'The property was incredibly well-maintained. All staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. A number of highlights, including the “Looking for Monkeys” tour and eco-adventure. Would highly recommend the complimentary activities, including smoothie making, cooking demonstration, kayaking, pickleball, and ebikes. '

'The plusses: great chef with creative menu, overal excellent food. Staff was very welcoming and mostly super friendly. The location is breathtaking and extraordinary. Although not adults-only, it is quiet and calm. Why that is important? Because the bird life is abundant! The minuses: the rooms need to be updated and modernized. Bathroom was not at all to standard. You pay literally for everything, starting with breakfast and bottled water! Being a Marriott gold member did not come with any...

'This is just a beautiful property on one of the nicest beaches in the world. We loved the fact that the surrounding area is a nature preserve, and even the beach area felt unspoiled, even though the pool and a restaurant were 100 feet away. Very well planned and designed. This allowed for abundant wildlife around us - monkeys, parrots, etc.'

'Mooi resort. Service had er iets meer boven op mogen zitten bij binnenkomst bij zo'n luxe resort. Koffers werden niet aangenomen wisten niet waar we naar toe moesten. Inchecken was zakelijk. Twee keer moeten vragen om een extra bed. Verdere service geweldig. '

'Het Hotel ligt op een mooie plek aan het strand met veel groen. Goede ontvangst. Vriendelijk personeel en kleinschalig. Jammer dat het restaurant matig was en de badkamer sterk verouderd, waardoor het ook niet echt goed schoon te krijgen is(voegen en kapotte tegels) Een klamboe zou ook wel fijn zijn!'

'What an awesome experience! The very friendly and attentive staff really add up to this beautiful and relaxing place. Especially the area with volcanic heated hottubs, surrounded by the forest, is spectacular. The horse riding tour which ended ziplining on the compound is a must. Had a lot of fun with the guys, who where true professionals! We will come back for sure!'

'We had to leave a day early. There was construction going on next to us which we were not told about ahead of time. They are building more bungalows. Between the open netting at the ceiling and windows without curtains, it was noisy and we had no privacy. In addition we waited 15 minutes and didn’t get hot water for the shower the last two mornings we were there. The beach was not walking distance as advertised. You would have to walk a dusty and busy road to get there. I was honest with...

'We first visited Playa Negra in 1999. We are so pleased to say that nothing has changed! We love the rustic feel of the Round thatched roof cabins and how close they are to the beach. The rooms while simple and rustic were maculate and the linens crispy and fresh. We heart Playa Negra hotel! Thanks for keeping Playa Negra the same.'
