Ryokans in Zuid-Kioto

'It may look like a budgethotel at first for my European eyes, however the friendly staff give it a better experience than a 5-star European hotel. A very good start in Japan for me.'

'What an incredible place to stay! This is the perfect home base for all your eastern Kyoto adventures. Being just a quick two minute walk to the KH train line makes accessing Fushimi Inari, Kiyomizudera, and Gion super convenient, while at the same time avoiding all the crowds that come with staying at those locations. The property owner was also incredibly helpful! The property itself is amazing. Unlike anywhere I've ever stayed before. The master bedroom has its own rock features! The...

'The staff were friendly and the location was convenient. The hotel however was very dated and the rooms were basic. Onsen was clean and there was free tea and coffee. If you want a quick easy stop then it’s not too bad but like I said. Basic'

'De ruimten waren goed, redelijk traditioneel. Service was enorm goed. Helaas liep er een kakkerlak rond.'

'We had a great stay at Omiya. Yes, the building is old and some parts have seen better days (our tatami floor was very stained). But, the location is fantastic. Close to Kyoto station and less than a 20 min walk from the hustle and bustle - it’s located in a nice and quiet residential area. It’s a cheap stay and the public bath is clean and great (both of us had the male and female baths to ourselves most evenings). Futons are comfy and I’ve slept on the exact same in other ryokan. Pillows can...

'Staff was very helpful and accommodating. Room was spacious for our group of four. The bathhouse was amazing definitely recommend going late at night so you can enjoy a bit of peace alone.'

'Lovely Japanese-style hotel with every amenity you could want: free coffee, onsen, laundry, robes, etc… Spacious, clean rooms. Loved the massage I booked! (As a side note: restaurants in the area close very early. We arrived after 7 pm and had no dining options. Apparently there is dining at the hotel restaurant if you book it as a package? We didn’t add it at the time of booking so we were left with dinner options from the mini mart across the street. Word to the wise. )'

'Comfort and relaxation'

Prima service. Prachtige tuin. Restaurant in het hoofdgebouw. Bushalte en supermarkt op loopafstand. Met de bus 20 minuten naar Kyoto Station.'
