Cottages in Reykholt

'Alvorens de reis vanaf Akureyri richting Borgarnes aan te vangen, nam ik voor de goede orde contact op om door te geven dat ik na de uiterlijke inchecktijd van 19:00 uur zou aankomen. De zeer behulpzame dame, deelde mede dat mijn komst rond 21:00 géén enkel probleem was. Een en ander bleek na aankomst zonder enige overdrijving, alles klopte, de kamer met kitchenette, uitstekende sanitaire voorzieningen. Vlakbij ligt Borgarnes, en beukt de Atlantische Oceaan op het basalt wat hier aangelegd is...

You can grill outside on the deck, watch the stars or aurora, read a book inside the cozy cabin, play a deck of cards, cook almost anything in the fully stocked kitchen or just cozy up on the sofa or loft. Our only concern is the long 7km drive on the gravel road to reach the property. Can be a bit bumpy if you’re only used to smooth tarmacs. ...

'This cabin makes great use of space and we had a wonderful time with our 2 kids. The hot tub has an amazing view and although there are nearby cabins, it felt very peaceful.'

'Erla's cozy red cottage was in the perfect place for us to get to after arriving early in Reykjavik. We were easily able to get to the things we wanted to see and do...Borgarnes and the Snefellsnes Penn. The house was spotless, the living area was spacious, and the beds were comfortable. We so enjoyed the hot tub after a long day witnessing the magic of Iceland. We would have stayed longer if there had been more days available.'

'This house and the area are beautiful. We stayed here for 3 nights and two evenings we saw the northern lights from the hot tub. The house is very luxurious and everything is there (also a lot of towels). Top! The Snæfellsjökull National Park is not far and is beautiful to visit. The Golden Circle is also easy to do from here. We really enjoyed everything. The communication with the owner of the house went perfectly and everything was clearly explained. We definitely recommend this house.'

'Skuli was a superb host. He communicated with us several days before our stay and walked us through every step of check-in. His daughter, Christelle, met us in Reykjavik and drove out, leading the way to their home. She was available to answer any questions about how to work the appliances, etc. She was very helpful. The beds were comfortable, the home was pleasant with a well-stocked kitchen, including spices. A big perk was having a washing machine/dryer in the home. Skuli even supplied...

'Attention: The lock of the outer door is defective, never go out without a key! It locks itself, the mechanism to change it is broken. With other doors of this type, you have to actively lock it. After half an hour and several phone calls, help finally arrived. Please have it repaired. It was also disappointing that the house does not have its own jacuzzi. Here the pictures are definitely deceiving! The hot tub is located at the community house "in the immediate vicinity", which is over 1 km...

'Staying on Berglind's property this past week was amazing! The guest house is split into two separate areas. The kitchen, 2 bedrooms, and bathroom are in the first section. There is a separate entrance that leads to the other two bedrooms and bathroom. It was perfect for our family (myself, boyfriend, brother, and two kids). She provided some staple items so we could cook local potatoes, eggs, and pepper we bought at the gas station up the road. Waking up to horses grazing in the field each...

'The house was amazing, the check-in experience was awful. The house is loosely connected to the hotel which manages the check in, but the house is actually family run. The front desk agent was friendly, but had us sit for almost an hour without an update. The restaurant refused to book us stating we weren't part of the hotel, despite the fact that the front desk disagreed. The house made up for it.'
