Cottages in Livingston

'We live in Edinburgh but had to book somewhere to stay while we were having work done at our house and Sycamore Cottage was perfect for four of us. The bedrooms are really spacious and the kitchen is really well equipped which isn’t always the case in self catering accommodation. We didn’t think we’d need to use the log burner but a typical Scottish spring meant we used it a few nights and there was plenty of logs left for it. Easy to drive into Edinburgh or can get the train from Gorebridge....

'Ons verblijf was zeer goed. Huisje is in een rustige omgeving, zeer volledig ingericht en hele gastvrije huiseigenaren. Wij hadden een huurauto en binnen 35 minuten waren we in Edinburgh.'

'Good for family (2 adults, 4 kids). Good location, 30 minute walk or 10-15 minute bus ride to the city centre. Clean apartment, some initial struggle with the front door key ‘technique’ but the video was helpful, could’ve done with a few more kitchen utensils / oven trays for self catering. Overall good, would stay again. '

None measured up and that was only based on the images. The pictures undersold the property, utterly. The Garden House became a serendipitous highlight of our trip to Edinburgh. The location, setting, layout, preparation, standards, provisions were are excellent. The setting within Oxenford Castle...

'Wow what an amazing experience we had at East twin cottage carmichael, the property is a little dated but very clean and in an amazing location. We had deer field for our back garden and we even witnessed a deer give birth just meters away from us on quite morning! They people who run the business are so friendly and helpful. The bistro is a must as food is amazing and the owners are so friendly and even sat and had a drink with us after closing! Directly in front of the cottage behind trees is...

'Jolie cottage situé dans un lieu atypique et agréable malgré le temps ! Il est à noter que le logement possède une machine à laver et un sèche linge indispensable pour faire sécher le linge !!!'

'The weather wasn’t in our favor but it didn’t matter as the cottage was the perfect place to spend a rainy day. The home was far more spacious than the photos conveyed. We had plenty of room for our group of five. With a well fitted out kitchen, a nice supply of board games, and a cozy fire in the wood stove, everyone enjoyed themselves. Hopefully, we will be able to take advantage of the lovely enclosed private garden on a future visit.'

'After a long drive to get there it was lovely to dump the cases and get into the hot tub. The accommodation was better than expected and we both enjoyed our stay there. We were told that the drive was a wee bit tight but other than that, no issues'

'Ideal location with charming village area nearby. Easy walk to local pub and to the water. Flat was spacious and well equipped; but could have used a bit more maintenance and some air freshener (near the sea, so a bit of a damp, musty smell). It was a bit farther from central Edinburg (~40 min) than I had expected; but the quaint village feel of the area was well worth the few extra minutes drive. All in all a nice place to support local sight seeing and day trips.'

'Goed hotel met vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. Mooi ingerichte grote en schone kamer. Hotel ligt centraal, nog geen 50 meter van de Royal Mile. Klein minpuntje is het continentale ontbijt, had wel iets uitgebreider gemogen. Hoe dan ook een hotel die we opnieuw zouden kiezen. '

'Uitstekend gelegen aparthotel. Buitengewoon vriendelijk personeel. Van alle gemakken voorzien appartement. Op loopafstand van de meeste attracties maar toch buiten de echte drukte van de royal mile. Aanrader!'
