'The Big Island Retreat is a lovely property located minutes on foot to one of the best snorkeling beaches on Big Island. We stayed in the Ocean view room which was over 2 floors. The view from the bedroom is lovely. The rooms are quite small with little storage. The bed was only a double and very high off the floor making getting into it really hard. The bathroom is not totally enclosed and has no basin as the kitchen sink is just outside. Although there was nobody staying in the rooms...

'This is an extraordinary place, beautifully nestled at the top of a narrow tree-lined road, designed to blend into the landscape. It's high, and the view of the sea is grand. Well appointed, with a salt-water pool and very nice communal areas. We stayed only one night, a stopover between Kona airport and the drive to Hilo. We left thinking we would like to stay again, perhaps stay two nights. Lovely hosts. '

It was also really nice to walk out to the beach to watch sunrises and sunsets. The resort location was close to almost everything we wanted to do. 'After spending two nights inside Volcanoes national park and two nights in the touristy part of Kailua Kona, staying in this quiet and tranquil property for our last two nights was the perfect way to end our vacation! It is away from the main tourist hub and yet close enough to get to restaurants in Kailua Kona within 15 min. 'The guesthouse situated in a portion of the property was quaint and well appointed. The unit was spacious and contained a full kitchen. We throughly enjoyed the fresh eggs left by the host. 'This resort is perfect for people wanting a central location to explore the island. 30 minutes to drive to both the North and south shores. The resort is clean and has everything needed to relax and stay put as well- several pools, 3 restaurants and sits on miles of walkable beachfront. All of the resort staff was so friendly and helpful. The host was spectacular with timely communication and we couldn’t have asked for a better stay. We’ll definitely be back!'
