'When we arrived we saw immediately that the sofabed in the lounge was broken and could not be used to sit or sleep on, this was disappointing as it meant there were not enough beds for us all. We contacted the owner and the next day a chap arrived with an airbed. We requested that the sofa be replaced but that did not happen. 'Lovely property but needs a little TLC. For instance curtain in lounge half hanging off, no lock for front bathroom door, loads of lightbulbs not working, video game not working holes in wall in bathroom and one of the bedrooms. Having said this the beds were comfortable, lots of space for 10 people and hot tub a great bonus. Nothing to spoil the holiday but just a few niggles.'

'The location is first-class, apparently in the 'middle of nowhere', yet within a short journey of all the usual facilities. It's great for Beamish and the Tanfield Railway, which are very close by and not too far from Locomotion at Shildon. 'Finchale is such a beautiful place, next to the priory ruins in a bend of the river Wear - amazing views across the river, or from the far bank to the priory. The big sitting room has views of the river on three sides, and is a really comfortable and relaxing room. There's a well-provided kitchen and generous modern bathroom (and separate WC).
