The only truly great part of our stay at Hotel Riu Palace Peninsula was the employees. Every staff member we interacted with was kind, friendly, and clearly working hard to provide good service. Their hospitality was the highlight of the trip and the main reason this review isn’t lower. We were also there for a wedding, and I will say the wedding itself was very well organized and executed.
That said, many other aspects of the stay were disappointing. The grounds were clean and generally well maintained, but the experience didn’t live up to what you would expect from a luxury all-inclusive resort.
The food was mostly underwhelming. The breakfast buffet was actually quite good, but the rest of the food across the property was mediocre at best. The drinks were also extremely weak and often tasted watered down, which was disappointing for an all-inclusive resort.
Entertainment was also lacking. The theater appeared mostly unused during our stay, and there were very few shows or activities in the evenings. It made the resort feel quieter and less lively than expected.
Another issue was the constant presence of people around the property trying to sell things. We were approached repeatedly by vendors pushing souvenirs or services. Even more concerning, there were strange men approaching guests trying to talk them into buying drugs, which made the atmosphere uncomfortable and not something you expect at a resort like this.
