Overall, the experience was horrible. We booked a room with a private bathroom, but what we found upon arrival was a room with a keypad code and a bathroom located outside that anyone could access. Furthermore, when we arrived, we found our shower running; another guest had turned it on because the hot water wasn't working in his bathroom and he wanted to check ours.
Inside the room, there were dirty papers and socks under the bed, along with who knows what else. There was also a leak near the air conditioning unit. We complained to the hostel, but they did nothing. We went out to visit the city, and when we returned, we found a cockroach on the ceiling. During the night, more leaks appeared—one much larger near the window—making it impossible to sleep well due to the constant dripping.
The next day we called because we didn't think what was happening was fair. Their only 'solution' was to send someone while we were out (giving them permission to enter) or for us to stay there and wait. Naturally, we said no and went out to see the city. When we got back, we saw that the bathroom had been used. To top it off, someone had eaten the food we left in the fridge, and we saw another cockroach in the kitchen.
In the meantime, we tried to get a refund so we could leave, but we couldn't get the hostel or Expedia to agree because they were so slow to respond. They have at least refunded us for one night for the inconvenience, but I clearly do not recommend this place at all.
