Ryokans in Kyoto

'Stayed in the room with a private bath, and its own interior water feature/mineral water stream. Possibly the best room(s - it was more of a suite) I’ve ever stayed in. Clean tatami mats, lovely meal, great private bath - we spent a lot of our visit just sitting next to the small waterfall/stream and reading.'

'The food and the hot bath were AMAZING. The room was beautiful too. Would be nice they were a little more understanding with scheduling issues, but overall very good✨'

'Lovely Japanese-style hotel with every amenity you could want: free coffee, onsen, laundry, robes, etc… Spacious, clean rooms. Loved the massage I booked! (As a side note: restaurants in the area close very early. We arrived after 7 pm and had no dining options. Apparently there is dining at the hotel restaurant if you book it as a package? We didn’t add it at the time of booking so we were left with dinner options from the mini mart across the street. Word to the wise. )'

In de gedeelde keuken kun je alles gebruiken. De Ryokan is typisch Japans en een leuke belevenis. Prima service. Prachtige tuin. Restaurant in het hoofdgebouw. Bushalte en supermarkt op loopafstand. Met de bus 20 minuten naar Kyoto Station.'

'That’s a Ryokan with all the associated Japanese experience. The only somewhat negative is location - not close to any local dining or public transportation (a free shuttle in the morning helps though).'

'It may look like a budgethotel at first for my European eyes, however the friendly staff give it a better experience than a 5-star European hotel. A very good start in Japan for me.'

'Amazing stay with my husband & two Sons. We are from England, so loved the cultural differences in this hotel. Staff were polite & helpful. Location was round the corner from Kyoto Station. Accessible to subway & meeting points for day trips. Traditional breakfast, which was excellent. They even accommodated me, as vegetarian. We loved the traditional Japanese onken & the yakatas provided for us to relax in. I would whole-heartedly recommend this as a fantastic place to stay & a cultural...

'Matsui Honkan Ryokan is gelegen vlakbij de Nishiki Market en op loopafstand van de belangrijkste winkelstraten en de wijk Gion. Medewerkers waren extreem aardig en hulpvaardig. Echt een aanrader.'
