'We stayed at this hotel for three days, and while the location is absolutely fantastic—close to plenty of dining options and shopping areas—the experience was sadly let down by our rooms. We booked three rooms, and all of them were on the ground floor, right next to the swimming pool. The humidity level near the pool area is extremely high, and as a result, all three rooms had a very noticeable mildew/musty smell. We tried turning the air conditioning down to the lowest possible temperature to...

'The room was clean and we could see the ocean while on the balcony. It is convenient to walk to many restaurants and shopping. Although can be noisy at night due to traffic. Beach is crowded while cruise ship in port. Staff is friendly and helpful. Our air conditioner stopped working on the last night, they sent maintenance to fix which took a few hours. Overall we enjoyed our stay.'

'We liked the room and liked the location - just steps to the Farmer's Market. This is more of a note to Expedia than to the Hilo Downtown Inn. This is the second place we have rented through Expedia that didn't tell us we'd need to negotiate stairs. My wife has trouble navigating stairs. I think the property and Expedia have an ethical and perhaps legal obligation to inform potential renters about the stairs.'
