'We stayed at Mont Rochelle for the second stop of our honeymoon. We had previously come from Cape Town, and it was an easy one hour ish drive/Uber into Franschhoek. This place is absolutely gorgeous!!! We came during the winter months and the sunset over the vineyards and mountains were stunning. The hotel staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. The customer service here was top of the line. We were checked in by Peter and he helped us map our the activities and transportation required...

'Het is een kleinschalig guesthouse met 5 kamers Wij zaten in de kleinste kamer (Cabane) en die was echt wel krap. De badkamer was verouderd en ook krap. Maar er werd ons verteld dat de kamer en badkamer in juni 2023 worden vergroot en gerenoveerd. Mocht je hier langer willen verblijven dan is het aan te raden om om een suite te vragen. 'Sad to leave but thrilled to have stayed at Akademie. However we do have unfinished business so we will be back, that is certain. Our room was just exceptional: spacious, well equipped and the staff fired up the balcony hottub based on our return time, you might think a hottub in the glorious weather we had, but yes…. To sit there for 30 minutes and just stare at the mountains and the blue sky above was magical. The breakfasts either served in the orangery of pool side were a taste bud delight....

'Het verblijf in dit mooie hotel viel ons tegen. Onze kamer was erg gehorig omdat ze direct boven de receptie ligt. 's Ochtends vroeg (6 uur) begint de ochtendploeg al met zijn werkzaamheden en dit was erg goed te horen in de kamers. Er werd wel dagelijks schoongemaakt maar lag op de nachtkastjes na 3 dagen nog steeds stof. Het ontbijt is goed maar niet bijzonder. Het personeel was zeer vriendelijk maar werkte echter niet samen. 'Fijne ligging van hotel. Gedateerd hotel, heeft ook wel weer zijn charme. Ietwat stoffige en viezige kamer. Ontbijt zeer uitgebreid met veel verschillende keuzes. Zwembad klein. Wat wij vervelend vonden is dat de eigenaar personeel vrij hard toespreekt over dingen die zij anders moeten doen in bijzijn van gasten. '

'We fell in love with Leeu House. The staff were so friendly and so helpful - preempting our needs before we even asked. Going above and beyond to help us with reservations (including a last minute request to help us find somewhere to watch the sunset!). The grounds are absolutely beautiful, as are the rooms. Feels like a little sanctuary but still walking distance from all the best restaurants, galleries and the wine tram. Highly highly recommend. Only thing is we wish the pool was heated!'

The gardens and farm are not a performance - at over 2000 acres and something like 700 staff they somehow manage to seamlessly blend luxury with genuine production, and the variety is extraordinary. 'Eigenlijk vergelijkbaar met Hunters Country in Plettenberg. Prachtige locatie op wine estate. Huisje, cottage bij eerste aanzien schattig en ruim. Alle wat je nodig hebt is er. Maar er mag wel een moderniseringslag gemaakt worden. Bed, stoelen, banken , badkamer noemen wij (verwende kwasten) gedateerd. Maar prima ontbijt. Overall prima vermaakt en genoten. Vlak bij hoop leuke wine estates en restaurants. '
