Herbergen in Winston - Salem

'The hotel is dated and dark and needs upkeep. I paid for a king-size room, but the internet connection didn't work there, so I had to be moved to a double, which was just as dark, with torn carpet and broken lampshades. The internet connection did work there, but the TV stopped working after a while. The following day, I was offered to move to other rooms, each with different problems of their own: loud air conditioning, and no internet connection again (even though it was an "upgrade"). I...

'Touring colleges with my daughter and stayed here after seeing Wakeforest. It is farther away than I thought it would be from the school. The hotel has a nice rooftop area where you can sit, relax, play board games, and enjoy a game. There is also an outdoor seating area on the first level with a fire pit, which was a nice touch. The surrounding area is not the best, although I’m not sure there is really a great area to stay right in downtown.'

'We stayed here for 2 nights in a comfortable suite. The property was very pleasant, as were the staff. Parking was easy and safe. Strange that a hotel of this class doesn't have a bar or restaurant though. I know they offer a glass of wine in the evening, but having to walk 10 minutes to find somewhere to go for a nightcap we found unusual. Feels more like a wedding venue than a full-service hotel. Breakfast was very good.'
