'Personeel was heelnaardig, locatie was prachtig, maar onze douche gaf alleen maar koud water. We hebben bij de front desk gevraagd of er iemand naar kon kijken. We waren die dag toch de hele dag op excursie (van 7 uur ‘s morgens tot 7 uur ‘s avonds). Echter toen we terug bij de kamer kwamen stond de deur gewoon open…. 'We had three issues with our stay: The Outrigger is adding a Dukes restaurant -so there was lots of construction noise and debris. Would have been nice if this was disclosed. The Outrigger’s real name is the Outrigger Resort and Spa - but there was no Spa. Just a hotel room that was converted to a Spa. That is not that the same as a real Spa. Would have been nice is this was disclosed. The air conditioner stopped working on two of our four nights - so it was uncomfortably warm those nights. ...

'Restaurants and location were great. Had to wait in a long line when my keycards were not working. Extended checkout time was not possible despite being a Hilton Gold member. Room was cleaned only once in three nights.'

'In general the property was quite nice. Rooms are spacious if somewhat run down (they were doing some renovations though so that might be solved soon). It is in a nice location by the ocean and the bar/restaurant was very enjoyable with good staff. The pool is somewhat small but acceptable, the private lagoon somewhat makes up for this though (it is also a great place to try out your snorkel before going into the ocean). 'The hotel is in a perfect location on the public beach. We loved spending time on the sandy beach. There are countless things to do in the area. I wish beach chairs and an umbrella would have been included at no charge. We enjoyed the pool area right next to the beach.'

I understand that this was a difficult situation for the local community and hotel staff as well. Due to the severe weather and flooding, I contacted the Grand Naniloa regarding my reservation and asked whether any flexibility might be possible. 'Perfecte ligging aan het strand waar allerlei voorzieningen zijn zoals snorkelen. Daarbij prima gelegenheid om bijv. schildpadden te zien; zelfs langs het strand. Zwembaden bij het hotel zijn ook prima. Gezellige bar met prima eten ook in het restaurant. Hotelpersoneel is supervriendelijk.'

Swam with manta rays and did the longest running luau that was well done. Have been coming here since the 80’s and it only keeps getting better. We love the Mauna Kea and the Big Island of Hawaii.'
