We are located directly on the beach in the town of Nyborg on the island of Fyn. We have unobstructed views of the ocean and the big storebælt bridge. We are smack in the middle of Denmark. The sun rise every morning should not be missed! Nyborg used to be the capital of Denmark in the Middle Ages because the king at the time spent much of his time here. Our property is historic and was built in the 1930's so that people could come from all over Denmark to enjoy the beach, dancing and a nice meal. There was even a little train station called Skærven in the olden days that would bring them directly here. Just down the street is a local swimming pool with other sports activities like a fitness center and opportunity to play tennis. In the opposite direction, also walking distance, is one of the best golf courses in Denmark. We are very close to public transportation, both by bus and train so it is easy to access all of Denmark and all of Europe from our little town.
The outdoor area is so beautiful. We are located right on the beach with unobstructed views of the ocean. The sunrise comes up over the big bridge every morning and the sky looks like it is on fire. Some say there is a little sound from the motorway depending on which way the wind blows but you cannot hear it from within the apartments. If you are very sensitive to sound and wish to stay at a more remote location, then perhaps Skærven isn't for you. Most people aren't bothered and the motorway noise eventually becomes part of the white noise in the background. You get spectacular views from all the apartments and we are easily accessible. We are in the process of updating everything at Skærven. Since it is just my husband and I doing all the work, it is a slow process but I guarantee that it will look different every time you come back to visit us. We do not allow smoking of any kind including vaping so you will always have fresh air to breathe when you are outside.
This specific apartment has 2 bedrooms facing the ocean. There is room for 2 people per room and in a little alcove in the living area, there are 2 extra beds for the smallest amongst you. They are on the smaller side but still very comfortable. There is a spacious living and dining area, with a fully equipped kitchen. In the bathroom you will find a washing machine so you can stay for a longer period of time. You really have everything you need. We supply all linens, towels, shampoo, soap, coffee and tea, as well as all cleaning supplies.
There is a golf course just down the street, a fitness center, rec center and swimming pool in the opposite direction and we are located on the beach. You can also take walks underneath the big bridge and walk to town. Nyborg has so much to offer tourists. It is great for biking, walking, and exploring. There are many fun things to see and do and since we are located in the middle of Denmark, you can use Skærven as your home base while you go exploring. Legoland, Camp Adventure, Copenhagen, Egeskov castle, Nyborg Castle, Fyns Hoved, Ladby Viking museum, HC Andersen's childhood home among many other things are very easy to access from Nyborg.
Skærven was built in the 1930's and is a part of Nyborg's history. The architect, August Kolding, designed many of the buildings in Nyborg and was a famous Danish architect. Skærven started as a restaurant and a place where people would come and hang out on the beach, eat and then dance the night away. During a busy summer day, there were around 4000 people enjoying the beach. It was then bought by the diabetes association and became a summer holiday resort for child diabetics learning how to navigate their illness. Over the years there have been many restaurants coming and going but now it is more of a holiday resort/hotel where people can stay for many different reasons. The last owners built the 3 apartments in the bigger part of Skærven and we have 3 apartments and a cozy cottage for rent.
