Service irréprochable! Mes enfants voulaient manger chinois et la réceptionniste nous a gentiment laisser nous asseoir au restaurant avec plats venus de l'extérieur et nous a même apporté des assiettes chaudes!!

Excellent service. The owner was very efficient and friendly. Good breakfast, cooked to order. Hotel in need of updating, but was clean and comfortable. Plenty of parking. Would definitely stay again.

We arrived on fri night welcomed by Judith very friendly asked if had a good journey signed in shown to our rooms breakfast 100% we were visiting family who live in Plymouth for the weekend it’s our 3rd stay at the millstone very enjoyable stay

The great service hotel

The hotel was a bit tired and dated in places but the reception you get and guest service was brilliant very friendly and welcoming staff who would go out of their way to make you comfortable. I had dinner once during my 2 night stay and the food was excellent.

Typisch englisches Hotel im Stil eines Landhauses

Das Zimmer (Einzelzimmer) war für eine Person völlig ausreichend. Es war sauber, das Bett bequem und die Sanitäranlagen (Dusche, WC und Waschbecken) völlig in Ordnung,. Es wurde jeden Tag gereinigt und mit neuen Handtüchern versorgt. Der Geruch vom Weichspüler in den Handtüchern hat mich an den Besuch bei Freunden erinnert. Das Frühstück ist typisch englisch. Wurstbelag udn Käse habe ich nicht wirklich die paar Tage vermisst. Die Mitarbieter wren sehr freundlich und angenehm dezent. Das WLAN war hevorrgend im Zimmer. Außerdem hat das Hotel sehr schöne Aufenthaltsgelegenheiten im Erdgeschoss, wo man gemülich uaf Sesseln mit Kissen in Karminatmosphäre sitzen kann. Es gab mehr als genügend Parkplätze direkt vor der Tür. Die Anbindung mit dem Linienbus in die City ist kinderleicht und mit drei Minuten Fußweg zur Busstation kurz.

Lovely old property- needs money spending on it.

Wonderful old property, on a busy main road. Plenty of parking, good restaurants nearby, with a fabulous cooked to order breakfast. Comfortable four poster bed, good sized room but with a pervasive chemical cleaner smell. We like a cold room so opened the windows- problem solved. We would stay again happily, but if you want boutique elegance, it's not for you. It is a bit rundown and could do with the exterior sorting out, but I can see it is a money pit and may take a couple of years to restore it to glory. Had good wifi in our room and the two lady staff members we met were both charming.

Avoid ... this is a failing business

The Millstone property has recently been purchased by a developer. It immediately became evident that no real investment has been made in this property for some years prior. There is a rating sign (obscured by overgrown shrubs) displaying 4 crowns but this must have been a historic rating. I noticed a Cleanliness certificate on display in the reception area which was dated June 2016 so wonder if all certificates are up-to-date for this business ??? Disappointed upon arrival at Millstones as the exterior photo on-line showed nicely manicured lawn and property exterior tidy and presentable. Reality was that the lawns had been paved over, and exterior of the property is badly in need of attention, again ivy/plant growth obscuring some windows, grass growing out of the gutter. Entrance lobby dark, uninviting, screaming out for some TLC. Dining conservatory roof was covered by ceiling blinds but you could clearly see a huge amount of dead insects caught between the roof and blinds. Our room was acceptable and spacious, overlooking the rear of the property, the view of which would have been much enhanced, had the grounds been maintained to a good standard. Lighting in the room was poor - 20watt bulb in the ceiling light. Carpet was not fitted, looked like a poor DIY job. Bathroom décor, especially ceiling was very poor, cracks, cob-webs, very untidy seal around the hand-basin. However, shower was clean and operated reasonably well.

Very poor value for money. Way below par

A very outdated place with a big car park but in need of a huge refurb. I didn't think leather sofas and portable TVs still existed. Given that there were only a couple of people at breakfast I'm not keen on booking it the night before. Eggs were good but the rest of the food was low grade. Room smelt bad, water pressure terrible, wifi didn't work. My door was left open when it was cleaned between days. Fairly misleading from the photos given on booking. I look forward to staying away but was really disappointed.

Clean but tired hotel

Very friendly staff. House with some character. Room was clean but tired - very thin carpet, dead mattress, no net curtains and right opposite other houses. Breakfast excellent. 5 minute walk to carvery pub.

Relaxing small hotel close to Dartmoor

Millstones country hotel is a small family run hotel that has not long since changed hands. The new owners are re-establishing the restaurant which at present only caters for functions and parties. The hotel only boasts 8 rooms so early booking is essential. The staff are efficient and friendly with nothing that is too much trouble the rooms are clean and very comfortable. I was lucky to find myself in a 4 poster bed. the hotel has a licence with a well stocked bar, weekend breakfast is served between 08:30 and 09:30, a menu sheet is filled out the night before enabling your meal to be on time. The breakfast is of excellent quality and beautifully cooked and sufficient of it. The dining room is oak paneled, their are also two comfortable lounges on in close proximity to the bar, all in all a first rate hotel.
