All the charm of an authentic 15th century residence with today's comfort. Located in the middle of a village in Berry, in the heart of the Black Valley. A stone's throw from George Sand de Nohant's house. Classified 4-star tourist accommodation in 2019.

This large bourgeois house from the end of the Middle Ages, is restored with respect for old stones in traditional materials. It has 6 bedrooms, including 2 with private bathroom, a large living room with monumental fireplace and a quarter-grand piano, another vaulted living room, a large kitchen open to the dining room, a summer kitchen opening onto the terrace.

Large flat screen HD TV, free high speed WIFI, bluetooth HI-FI installation.

Outside is a 10m heated swimming pool, secured by an approved protective cover with bars that you can unroll / roll up at your convenience. A very large wooden terrace surrounded by clumps of boxwood and stone walls. Garden furniture, pergola, barbecue area, park with games for children.

The property is located two kilometers from the town of La Châtre which has all shops and amenities.

The village of Montgivray is ideally located on the banks of the Indre, you will find many relaxation areas. Whether hiking trails or simple walks, the banks of the Indre are quiet and privileged places. The first category river is highly prized by fishermen. There are playgrounds for the youngest, as well as basketball courts, slides ...

For hikes, the village is crossed by the GR de Pays ‘‘ in the footsteps of the Master Buzzers ’’ (yellow and red markings), by the GR 46 and the GR 654 route of Santiago de Compostela.

At the cultural level, you will be able to see or re-examine the castle of Nohant, house of George Sand. But also the small Romanesque churches, the frescoes of Vicq, the castle of Sarzay, the Gallo-Roman site of Argentomagus. The Weekend of July 14 takes place at the chateau of Ars, the traditional music festival "Le son continu"

La Chatre swimming pool with indoor and outdoor pools, slides, jacuzzi, sauna.

15 km away is the 18-hole Dryades golf course, as well as the Ligny water sports center. Multi-activity: ski lift, wakeboard, as well as a BMX track.

The La Châtre circuit is very close, with its driving school which will make you discover the joys and the thrills of motorsport.

Mooi, maar.....

We hebben een heerlijke vakantie achter de rug. Een mooi huis, goed geoutilleerd en schoon, vooral de slaapkamers en daarbij behorende badkamers. De ontvangst was, ondanks onze te vroege aankomst, erg vriendelijk. Dank, Gloria. Helaas sprak Gloria geen Engels en is mijn Frans tamelijk roestig maar we kwamen er uiteindelijk wel uit. Het is een heel oud huis en dat heeft zeker z'n charme maar wat ons op- en tegenviel waren de muizen. Elke dag minmaal één maar soms meerdere tegelijk en dan ook nog wandelend over het aanrecht. Dit probleem los je natuurlijk niet zo maar op maar verdient wel enige aandacht. Verder hadden we de pech dat de pomp van het zwembad niet goed functioneerde waardoor er groene aanslag in het zwembad ontstond. Het zou de dag van ons vertrek gerepareerd worden dus we nemen aan dat het probleem is opgelost. Het heeft de pret niet gedrukt maar toch... Wat ons overigens wel verbaasde was de score in andere reviews nl. 10/10. Dat is simpelweg niet reëel. Het is echt een heel mooi huis en we kunnen het zeker aanraden maar er valt ook wel wat op aan te merken. Kortom, mooi en fijn huis maar......

Relaxen in erg mooi en comfortabel huis

Fantastische week met vrienden in erg comfortabel huis. Mooie tuin. Van binnen gezellig , goede bedden! 4 badkamers. Van alles is aanwezig om er een fijne week met elkaar te hebben. Verwarmd zwembad is top, genoeg tuinmeubilair, incl. Badhanddoeken. We hebben genoten. Omgeving leuk wat te wandelen en te fietsen maar verder is er niet veel te beleven.

Family of 7 adults. One week.

Great villa with superb pool. Bbq and outside area. Kitchen bedrooms lounge and dining room all brilliant. La châtre superb town with plenty of life. Montgivray very quiet so you need a car.

A wonderful property with lots to do for all the family. The property was well equipped. The rooms were all comfortable. You would need a car most days if you wanted to go to the supermarket or boulangerie for example. However we all loved it.

Magnificent

We’ve just got back from a wonderful two weeks. The photos don’t do the house justice! We come to France most years and some in our family have been for 40 years and said this is the best house they’ve stayed in. The room to bathroom ratio is perfect for three families . It’s all cleaned perfectly. The pool is excellent, perfect temp with towels and lounger cushions. The pool table, ping pong table come in handy when weather isn’t great. The little village of Montgivray is idyllic. Each evening we enjoyed various walking routes. It’s just immaculate. Palegie is very sweet and helpful, and just across the street if you have any problems. The house does come with a large list of rules but I think this keeps the house at a nice standard for people to enjoy, and so it doesn’t get damaged or run down and is respected. We will definitely be back, we had a wonderful stay. Thank you for allowing us to stay!

Lovely, spacious house and garden

We were a mixed group of friends and family who gathered for a wonderful holiday. Loads to do - younger group in the pool, older ones playing pool! Plenty of space to spread out and beautiful gardens with wildflower lawn, thank you!

Une semaine reposante entre amis !

Nous étions un grand groupe d’amis (12 personnes) avec 2 bébés à séjourner dans cette charmante maison ancienne. Le cadre est très reposant. La maison est très spacieuse avec des grandes pièces pour profiter tous ensemble (grand salon / cuisine avec une très grande table à manger / extérieur) ainsi que de superbes chambres permettant à chacun d’avoir un peu d’intimité. Les 4 salles de bains sont appréciables pour un grand groupe. L’espèce extérieur est très agréable et parfaitement aménagé pour profiter du beau temps entre amis. La piscine chauffée est un grand plus. L’espace BBQ avec une grande table à manger nous a permis de profiter des dernières soirées d’été en terrasse. Par ailleurs, la maison présente une salle de jeu au sous sol. La communication avec le propriétaire et la personne s’occupant de la maison sur place était parfaite. Nous avons passé une excellente semaine et recommandons vivement cette maison ! Encore merci !

Malgré 12 personnes au total on ne se marche pas dessus tellement la maison est grande, la piscine est très bien entretenue, je recommande cette maison. Avec le soleil, le séjour était parfait.

Holiday in Montgivray, The Berry

An amazing property that had a wonderful structure and was just waiting for someone to come along and give it a "make-over". The renovation has been hugely successful and the house is now absolutely beautiful, with real character. It is totally ideal either for a large family or two smaller ones. The bedroom layout is excellent, with bedrooms at each side of the living room, each side with their own showering and bathroom facilities. These were rated by our party to be amongst the best showers we have ever experienced in numerous holiday houses. The pool is really lovely, being heated to a comfortable temperature and the secure garden fabulous for children to run, hide and play games. The location is some way from the hustle bustle of the main Loire region but we found plenty of interesting and beautiful sites (including chateaus) to visit. There were small towns to explore, with excellent restaurants. La Chatre is only 10 minutes by car and has excellent supermarkets, a delightful town square and some decent pavement cafes. Vincent (the Owner) was very responsive to the few small queries that we had and we were met on arrival by the very friendly and helpful housekeeper (Jonelle). Very highly recommended - Thank You, we had a wonderful holiday!

Beautiful, well equipped house. So much better than the photos!

Lovely house set in a quiet village. Very relaxing. Helpful managers. Joëlle made sure we had everything we needed and was very friendly. Everything was perfect. The house had all sorts of extras - indoor and outdoor games, TV and music system and the kitchen was equipped with everything you could need. Really nice pool, good size and steps to get in easily. Only didn’t give 5 stars throughout because no shops in village but there are great shady riverside walks and only 7 minutes drive to good supermarket in next town. Thank you for a fantastic holiday.
