A great location with public transport at the door. A heritage building so not a lot the new managers can do to the overall building however they are actively looking to improve the facilities with recently renovated showers/toilets etc. Free breakfast each day is a bonus (especially with the pancakes - yum!) and lots of mid-week activities to get involved in. Only complaint here is that the b/fast only opens around 8am so if you want an early start you miss out. The common areas including kitchen, dining, toilets etc. are cleaned daily by contractors. The staff are really friendly and someone is at reception 24/7 to assist. A bar, TV room (Netflix), rooftop BBQ area and games areas (pool table, board games etc) round out the facilities with an in-house travel desk as well. Lots of different accommodation alternatives from shared dorms to en-suite rooms complete the picture. I stayed in a 6 share dorm initially and then upgraded to a 2 bed room with own TV! Free WiFi included (of course). Talking with fellow travellers the common theme is that this is one of the best and most friendly places they have stayed. Glad I decided to stay here and have made some (hopefully) long term new friends.

This is a good hostel however there’s is room for improvment. The rooms were very hot and there is no A/C in rooms. Also 3/6 showers were out of order during my stay however on last day there was someone in fixing them. Bed was very comfy and linen smelt very fresh. Free breakfast is a bonus.

Mice issue lets it down

This hostel has a mice issue, traps have been put down by staff but still my food hanging in a bag in the kitchen got eaten by mice. Knowing mice were around put me off even though the cleaning staff did a good job at cleaning around. Liked how there were curtains on the bunk beds, I had a 12 bed room which was large but did hear others say their rooms were quite small. Staff were friendly good activities going on but due to mice I wouldn't recommend.

This place is extremely basic. I mean very basic. Not exactly warm and inviting but ok. Major.problem with heating. It’s freszing in the rooms with no heating in Melbourne in the middle of winter. Hideous

Close to the beach

This was a nice location if you are staying in the St-Kilda area and have a weekend. There are many shops close by as well as the beach and even a Sunday market! You will not be disappointed with the variety of people you will see in this place.

Could do better

You don’t expect too much for $50 a night, but the smell in my room was pretty bad. It was hot and stuffy even though not a hot day. Given some of the other nice hostels in the area, I think they need to raise their game.

great cosy welcoming

I had a great little in between transit work and travels rest forca week at nomads st kilda and the staff were so kind and helpful and considerate and respectful I would reccomend this hostel to anyone travelling through or wanting a break I will be coming back for holidays here again .thanks st kilda nomads for making me feel at home .

Bra ställe utan AC

Väldigt trevlig personal och trevliga gäster. Helt okej kök och helt okej rum. Men det finns ett stort problem. Det finns ingen AC. Så rummen blir jättevarma och det är svårt att sova. Wi-fi funkade inte heller om man inte betalade för att få extra bra wi-fi. Men väldigt rent och rena badrum med fräscha duschar

En suite single bed with privacy curtain...

One of a first Hostel experience, politely left Beers out of the room in a communal Fridge as no alcohol allowed in rooms, following instructions given, Beers went missing,a possible theft, or removal by staff. Management wanted me to double losses, if not greater, and check out immediately if receiving replacements as the staff were not able to be spoken to politely and constructively about it without it being turned trivial and an act of aggression. Manager agreed to replace missing items however this was backtracked on and denied the following day upon checking out. Personally, I won't book with Nomads again, I was surprised to be accused of antagonising staff and being asked to check out, a day after making a purchase that subsequently disappeared.

Stayed here for 3 hot days in Melbourne in a double room. I knew it had no AC but the small fan did nothing. It had a TV but no power cord to it and no remote even. Storage of bags was acceptable but check-in was delayed then everyone piled up to check in. Key didn't work at first so hauled bags all the way back down 3 floors to wait in line and have it reprogrammed. All fridges in kitchen packed to capacity, no way to utilize it. Toast and cereal for breakfast was something at least. They also make you check in with their Tipi system and download an app. And are a bit pushy for selling you experiences. Local event updates were nice. I wouldn't stay again.

Friendly staff. Dirty rooms

All staff very friendly. A busy hostel with a lot of backpackers up for chat. However the room was dirty. Bed sheets and pillows had stains, as well as the towel. Rubbish was still under the bed and the hostel itself is very run down.

"free wifi" is only available during business hours and slow, so advertising is deceptive. Fast wifi is a fee. "free breakfast" is white bread and corn flakes, no coffee, coffee is a fee

Ok globalement

Je ne suis restée que 2 nuits. L'état global est correct bien qu'un peu poussiéreux. Le petit déjeûner inclus ne propose pas de boissons chaudes pour inciter les clients à payer 2,50$ le café à l'accueil. Mais le personnel est très sympathique. La cuisine est décevante, les courses sont suspendues mollement dans des sacs partout et personne ne fait la vaisselle, alors si le personnel de l'auberge ne la fait pas, personne ne s'y colle et c'est désastreux tous les soirs. Ils devraient forcer les gens à nettoyer derrière eux. Les douches sont correctes et les wc aussi. Les lits proposent chacun plusieurs prises très pratiques pour lire et recharger nos appareils. Le rooftop est très sympa le soir.

Einfaches Hostel

Das Hostel liegt mitten in St.Kilda. Das Gebäude ist wahrscheinlich ein historisches, jedoch sehr verwohnt. Mein Zimmer lag im zweiten Stock (ohne Aufzug). Die Zimmergröße war ausreichend und das Bad war so, wie Gemeinschaftsbäder sind. Sehr unangenehm war, dass die Handtücher zwar frisch gewaschen rochen, aber fleckenübersät waren. Andere Gäste des Hostels waren mitten in der Nacht sehr laut. Die in der Beschreibung genannten kostenlosen Parkplätze in der Nähe sind nicht zu finden und das Personal konnte mir auch nicht helfen. Ich konnte nur weil es Wochenende war an einer Straße parken.

Excellent hostel close to St Kilda Beach

Good hostel, close to public transport and shops. Great beds with USB ports. Only downside, you have to pay for wifi and no lift.

Rooms are smelly and tight. Fellow backbackers left their stuff all over the floor. No air conditioning and loud, almost useless fan.
