Great stay at My Blue Heaven!!

Our group spent a wonderful week at David's lovely and private home! The group included four families with kids ranging in age from 5-16 yo. Everyone had plenty of space - the bunk sleep room was great for the kids. The house was well appointed including kitchenware and comfortable furniture. The kids used the crab pots and had a nice haul for lunch one day. The back yard is spacious and the perfect spot for a fire at the end of the night, and the dock area is incredibly serene. We spent a few days on the beach nearby - armed with our jellyfish sunscreen - and we all enjoyed hanging in the water. The home is close to grocery stores, dollar generals, etc, so it was a short drive to most anything we needed. Our group's only complaint would be with the WiFi. Because of the house's remote location, cell service was spotty at best (though some of us got 5G service on the dock and at the beach), so having WiFi at the house was a nice bonus. That said, the strength of the WiFi was not great and the TV uses streaming services, so those were a bit laggy. I reached out to David once during the trip and he (and the property manager, Philip) were both very quick to respond. Overall, we had a great time at this comfortable waterfront home.

The property was well-situated in a beautiful, natural setting perfect for crabbing, fishing, and kayaking off the dock and swimming in the nearby bay & beach access. Our family enjoyed the many excellent amenities for outdoor enjoyment! Thankful for the recommendation to purchase SeaSafe jellyfish protectant and bring the necessary sheets & towels. We learned so much about the costal area wildlife in the setting and took advantage of the homeowner's recommendations for local restaurants, entertainment, artisans, and shops. Wonderfully quiet and relaxing family reunion on the Chesapeake Bay!
An impromptu fishing tournament was also a fun part of our stay. (Poles purchased at local WalMart.)
Fishing was fun off the dock and in kayaks.
Large tables were perfect for shared dinners.
Nearby Vir-Mar Beach access was a great walkable retreat. Remember to bring SeaSafe sunscreen!

Wonderful Family Vacation Location

We chose this home for our annual tri-family vacation for 16 (ages 9-57). We couldn’t have been more happy with our stay! The kids absolutely loved crabbing, fishing and kayaking every day, not to mention the huge yard for playing and biking, and it was just a short walk to the beach. It had all the room we needed and plenty of space for family dinners, nightly board games or just talking and catching up. We had a wonderful time and would happily return for another stay!

Home for the Holidays

Our family was gathering in Heathsville for Christmas and additional accommodations were needed to ensure everyone’s comfort over the holiday. While much of our time was spent at ‘Grandma’s house’ a few miles away, this was the perfect place for us to enjoy late evenings and early mornings. Cousins could be heard laughing long into the night as they caught up in the ‘loft room’, each morning started with a stroll in the dock, and days ended by gazing at the stars.Despite a slight communication issue prior to the reservation date (which VRBO’s help center quickly worked to resolve), the owner’s information was thorough, timely, and super helpful. He even ensured that the house was warmed to a comfortable temperature upon our arrival.Just flagging for future guests that linens and towels are not provided, including hand and dish towels.We had a wonderful time, loved the location, and will certainly consider returning when we can enjoy the waterfront activities more fully. Thank you!

Fantastic setting, house and amenities.

We had a great time at my Blue Heaven. Nicely stocked kitchen, plenty of room inside and out. The kids ages 8 to 2 loved the bikes, games and puzzles. The beach was so close. Make sure to check out the stars at night AMAZING!

Wonderful stay-

The property was beautiful. We enjoyed mornings and evenings on the dock fishing, crabbing, and kayaking. We enjoyed floating and swimming at vir-mar beach (until jelly fish arrived.). We found out of the water entertainment in kilmarnock. The house was well suited for our gathering of two families with children. Both the host and property manager were wonderful in answering questions and giving helpful suggestions about local information.

Family Vacation

Honestly the property is much more beautiful in person than the pictures present and we had such a lovely stay. We built some core memories with the kids during our stay that we will remember forever. The internet and reception was very poor but it helped us all disconnect (just don’t expect to be able to work remotely here) and reconnect with each other. Thank you for letting us stay at your family home as it was clearly loved and maintained throughout the years by a loving family.

Exactly what you want from a vacation on the Bay

Our group was 4 families with kids of varying ages. We have been doing this trip for a decade and this house is the best set up for our group we've ever had. A big "dorm room" at the far end of the house meant the kids could play and get loud without bothering adults talking and playing games on the main level. The dorm also had to nooks that the older teens loved as they felt they had their own space. The dock is set up to fully enjoy the Bay. Without much effort we caught a bushel of crabs with the four house pots and there is a picnic table outside perfect for picking. There were jellyfish but not a ton - people were wading in the water at the public beach without issue. The house is home to a flock of wild turkeys that showed up everyday around 4 which was really cool. We didn't realize we needed linens/towels but the welcome email was clear about that so it wasn't a problem, just a bit of a surprise. The internet is spotty. My husband had planned on doing one critical work call and ended up going having to go into town. The public library is close (by the Food Lion) and has little work pods that were perfect although it would have been better if he didn't have to leave the house. However, it forced the kids to abandon their devices which was great. The motion sensor outside the master bedroom is faulty and had a bit of a disco party at night but we just turned off that breaker when we went to bed which worked fine. We will be booking again next year!

Beautiful Property Great for Large Family

This is a really beautiful place to stay. We were 14 people and we were more than comfortable in the spacious house. The area is very rural so be prepared to drive if you want to shop or do anything. The internet is very spotty and the cell service is basically non existent. So, it's a great place to unplug and relax. The house is big and the kitchen is well stocked with dishes, pots, utensils. The are NO LINNENS at all. No towel, sheets, etc. This was an issue for us as we flew in and had to drive to Walmart to purchase linens that we had to leave behind. Also, the water is NOT for swimming. It is full of jelly fish. (The dock AND the beach). It is great for fishing, crabbing and canoeing but you cannot swim in it. This was tough since the days were very hot. Also, you cannot be outside at night due to the immense swarms of biting insects. We couldn't even have a fire at night. It was just not possible without being attached by biting insects. So, overall, nice house, beautiful location, don't plan to swim, be outside at night or have any internet access.

Great, private oasis

Blue Heaven was a great, quiet, beautiful place to house our large family weekend. Secluded, yet so close to the beach. We enjoyed the dock, canoeing, crabbing and playing on the beach. The house is large and each family was able to have their spot in the house, without being an annoyance to others. The beach is a quick 5min walk. The dock was fun for crabbing and fishing (although no swimming as we saw lots of jellyfish and even stingrays!). We also recommend a quick visit to the T&Js Dairy Bar minutes away on route 200 in Burgess. The ice cream there was excellent!! Thanks Blue Heaven!

Another great weekend

This was our second stay at My Blue Heaven with a big group and it was wonderful. It is so peaceful and we loved all the time spent outside on the dock, in the yard, and at the beach. We ventured out to Reedville one day for icecream and explored the area more. The Northern Neck is such a great, quiet escape!

Restful haven with room to spread out

The house was large, clean, and well stocked. Having access to the kayaks and canoe made for lots of fun for our family reunion. The whole property felt like a private island to us. Secluded and quiet!
