Just a few steps out of the back door and you will find yourself on the shores of Lake Michigan. Located within a short drive of both Saugatuck and South Haven, this home makes it easy to enjoy shopping, dining, and nearby art galleries. Take a drive north to get your toes in the sand or enjoy a picnic by the water at Douglas Beach Park, just 11 miles north.

This property is a treasure. The house is at a dead end, giving enormous privacy to us as guests. There are multiple amenities such as a great fire pit, a grill with two tanks of propane, a hot tub, patio seating, access to wifi and streaming services. Some things are dated but this contributes to the charm and the home owners are clearly making efforts to update the property. There is a brand new coach with doubles as extra seating, new bar stools and new dining room chairs which brighten up the space. Our biggest complaint is that the sliding doors are very difficult to open. Lubricant at the top and the base would be super helpful. And the kitchen towels need to be replaced. having a stack of kitchen towels would cut down significantly on the number of paper towels we had to use.

The location of the house is amazing. The view from the house and desk is perfect! Unbelievable sunsets! The house could have been a bit cleaner. The cookware, dishes, & silverware all had to be cleaned by hand and were fairly dirty. If you plan to cook a lot at this house I’d recommend brining some extra pots and pans as the house doesn’t have a huge selection and the ones they have are in rough shape. Not a huge deal, we made it work. The blinds in the living room are broken so be mindful of that if you have people sleeping in the living room. We were only left with one trash bag besides the one in the trash can. Wouldn’t recommend this house for elderly people or people with mobility issues because of the stairs getting down to the beach. It’s really rocky getting off the steps to the sand area. Besides these small inconveniences, my family enjoyed our stay!

Breathtaking Views

This was our 2nd stay here. We love the location - easy drives to South Haven and Saugatuck. We love being right on the lake with the gorgeous views! There were some disappointing things this time. The grass had not been cut. It was easily 12-18 inches tall. That did not make a good impression at all when arriving. The tall grass was not conducive to being in the yard. When you know you have renters coming, we don’t understand why it wasn’t more presentable. There were many loose boards on the deck. This could be a safety concern. The deck furniture had not been cleaned. It looked too dirty to sit on. The last time we stayed here, there were screens in the sliding doors. The screens were not there this time. We love to hear the crashing waves and be able to keep bugs out. The couches and blue chair have definitely seen better days. They are visibly worn and dirty. It’s time for some new furniture. When we think about dogs being on the furniture, too, it really needs cleaned or replaced. The hot water handle in the kitchen sink does not turn completely off. It drips continuously. The entry door lock has a lot of “play” in it. This caused a problem each time we tried to set the lock. The split rail fence also needs some repairs. We love the quiet setting and the gorgeous views. We had a cute possum visit on the deck, saw deer on the property and love the black squirrels. We would love to return. We love the accessibility of the home. This is one of our favorite rentals.

Not what I expected, I thought I could walk out to the beach and water long the water. Had issues with the telecom services, no wifi no internet, no tv for 4 days. Also no radio. A very quiet week, bring books, kindle or dvds.

Stunning views, quiet location, house was very clean and well-stocked. Only 3 things to note for property owner: hot tub had perhaps too much chlorine in it-the smell was overpowering, no wifi or tv connection-actually was a refreshing change for us but might be an inconvenience for others, also sliding back door is very difficult to open and close. But gorgeous property!!! We will return!

I don’t want to post a review.

I have no desire to write a review and have it posted. I do have a couple of comments that are NOT complaints but could make the place better. The hot tub cover is water logged. It needs replace or minimally a lifter on it. It took two of us to get it off and back on. Also part of the styrofoam inners are falling apart and blowing into the neighbors yard. That’s not being very neighborly as you strongly suggest in your writings. The hot water in the kitchen sink will not totally shut off and always drips. If you don’t lift the toilet handle back up, it will continue to run The northwest kitchen blind will not totally close The wired phone line is all static. We had to get in our car and drive 1/2 mile to make an emergency call. I’m sure this is a simple fix with your phone provider. We had to reset the WiFi router about 8 times. That is probably due to the scratchy phone line. You said, a bundle of firewood, came with the rental. There were two pieces. Not sure that’s truly a bundle in my world. BUT we had a very nice relaxing couple of days and will definitely keep this location in mind for the future. We have already forwarded it to two of our friends who are interested Now you got a low rating for communication. You sent wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy to many texts and emails!!!! I was trying to enjoy my stay.

Beautiful property

Enjoyed every bit of the weekend at this lakeshore cottage. The property is stunning and felt remote. The waves were simply beautiful - sounds were so calming. We all really can’t wait to come back! Next time we would like to try warmer weather!
