Catalina Island: Skivakanties

While the location was great, the property itself was extremely disappointing. Our room had stained carpets, a faulty nightstand that kept beeping and required an engineering visit at 10 p.m. on our first night, and poor soundproofing that allowed us to hear the guests above us. The most concerning issue was that disgusting black material began coming out of our sink over the following two days. The hotel had also shut off the water for several hours one evening, presumably to address a maintenance issue. We have no way of knowing what the material was, but its appearance was alarming and left us genuinely concerned about the water quality. We became so uncomfortable with the situation that we were afraid to shower. To be fair, the manager on duty was very kind and offered to send engineering to address the problem. However, we were out all day and didn’t return until late, when engineering was no longer on-site. We also weren’t comfortable allowing someone into our room while we were away. Regardless, guests should not have to deal with these kinds of conditions in the first place. Between the stained carpet, late-night maintenance issue, noise, and what appeared to be a serious plumbing problem, this stay fell far below the standards we expect from a hotel of this caliber. A pleasant manager cannot make up for a poorly maintained property and a room that leaves guests questioning whether it’s safe to use the water. We will not stay here again.

+ Mooi hotel in een mooie rustige buurt + Goed zwembad + Vriendelijk personeel + Grote schone kamer met mooi uitzicht vanaf de 15e verdieping + Ondanks dat er veel kamers zijn en dus veel gasten, is het hotel zelf heel rustig + Standaard 12:00am checkout - Parkeerkosten slaan nergens op. Alleen valet parking beschikbaar voor $65,- per dag. 100 meter verderop in de straat kun je gratis staan (alleen bij de grijze stoep, soms wel zoeken naar een plekje, is ons elke dag wel gelukt). 200 meter verderop een parkeergarage waar je voor $30,- per dag kunt staan.
