'This was a wonderful experience, very friendly staff who were always ready to help, offering glasses of chilled water in the spacious and well-furnished public rooms and alcohol in the evenings. We stayed in the large Shakespeare room, often used as a Bridal Suite. The spa is great, with a good sized pool, a jacuzzi and unusual sauna. 'The Marlborough is a pub with tasty food and about five rooms for overnight stays. The staff is outstanding and does everything possible to be helpful. It is on a central street of a very small town, so it can be a bit noisy during the day and early evening, but is quiet at night. The rooms have nice versions of all the basics, including a good bed and excellent shower. There are few extra amenities beyond the room and pub, although the breakfast was very good. 'We stayed two nights for the 2025 Clacton airshow. The hotel has good (free for guests) parking and is about a 30 minute walk to Clacton pier. Alternatively buses run along the front. We stayed in room 20 which had a Sea view on the second floor (note there are no lifts). The room was clean and tidy with cofee and tea making facilities and a TV (no fridge), also free (good) WI-FI.
