Pensions in Kyoto

'Great stay at the Sakaoue, very friendly staff. It was our first stay at a Ryokan and the staff took their time explaining everything we could expect and how to make use of all the facilities. They also gave us advice on where to go nearby and gave us tips on how to get there. Great stay, the room was spacious, clean and big and the Ryokan experience as a whole was definitely one I would like to repeat in the future.'

'Japanese style room was okay! It is located on a quiet residential area about 15 min walk from Kyoto central station. The reception was at a different place (next street) - you need to goto this place for checkin formalities. This was mentioned in the instructions email, nevertheless it was not convenient. Bathroom taps were old and not that handy. To get the desired temperature of hot+cold water, some amount of maneuvering is needed!'

'We stayed in Room number one. It was incredible. It was such a wonderful experience to stay in a historic building that had modern amenities and a lot of space. The room decorations and sliding doors were beautiful. The living room overlooks the garden. Everything was clean. It was nice to have the communal food area to grab coffee in the morning and a light meal. Be aware that the room entrance for the room is right next to the lobby. There are stairs to climb to get up to the room. We will...

'I didn't expect that it would be a whole house just for myself! The service was splendid, very polite and helpful. The house has everything you need, i.e. all the dishes. The interior is traditional and, very comfortable and nice.'

Rustige buurt. Met buslijn 9 goed bereikbaar vanuit station Kyoto. Ligt vlakbij het kasteel. Bushaltes voor diverse richtingen vlakbij. 3 supermarkten in de direkte omgeving. Uitstekend geschikt voor soloreizigers. Betaalbaar.'

'Great small hotel in the middle of Gion. A short walk to many attractions and Kyoto’s downtown. Staff was helpful and communicated well.'

'Deluxe twin was like a mini apartment with everything you need including a washer and dryer on the main floor. Close and convenient to restaurants and rail station. Would have been nice to have an extra pillow on each bed for a little more comfort. A great stay overall.'

'Agréable, propre, calme , spacieux et traditionnel. Ma famille a adoré.'

'We were very satisfied. Dimple, clean, affordable, decent accommodation, very friendly and helpful staff.'

'Very neat Ryokan with marvelous Japanese breakfast. '

'Amazing property! The staff at chech-in were so kind and offered to sk'
