This is an amazing Historic Hotel. The grounds are huge and very interesting with lots of history. The rooms were very cozy and comfortable - the AC worked great. Bathroom was large and very clean. Unfortunately we were only able to stay for about 24 hours and it was raining for most of the first day but it didn't stop us from having smores at the fire pit by the pool and playing card games and checkers in the lobby area. The fireplace was going, lots of large comfortable chairs and tables where couples or families could relax and enjoy the ambiance day or night. My 6 and 7 year old granddaughters loved the hotel too. They enjoyed the sitting areas available throughout the hotel and "the pantry".
The only thing that could have been better were food options. We had to leave the resort on Sunday night as nothing was open for dinner except The Pantry for sandwiches etc. The breakfast was expensive and was a buffet which equated to a breakfast at a Fairfield or Hampton but with less options. Coffee was not even included. Dinner is available six nights a week but a "Resort" should always have breakfast, lunch and dinner available that meet the expectations one would have of a full service "resort". That said, I will return again during the week to this lovely, historic hotel.
