Overall, our stay at Rushing River was great! The home sits at the end of a narrow gravel road that makes it very private. Luckily, Waze navigation got us there with only a couple backtracks. There is no ATT cell reception (probably true for any carrier) because the cabin is in a deep valley. The cabin Wi-Fi worked very well anywhere on the property and connection was easy.
The cabin itself has pretty much everything you need. It took a little looking into all the closets to find everything (e.g., kitchen wastebasket). The kitchen is well equipped with modern appliances. The coffee maker can be used with grounds or K-cup. There was even a grinder if you have coffee beans (didn’t use). The two TVs are Roku TVs but are very limited on selection. There is a TV channel listing provided, but not instructions on how to access. We brought our own Roku connection, so we could watch as if at home.
Our biggest complaint and disappointment was the master bed. It didn’t provide much support and the mattress is soft. It lacks box springs, and the bed frame has straps that are far apart. With the lovely furnishing everywhere else, it seemed that the bed is a budget-cutter. We ended up sleeping in the upstairs queen (listed as two twins, but there are a queen and twin in the room) because of backaches from the master bed.
The rapids just up from the cabin make sitting outside in the ample seating enjoyable day or night. Waved to those tubing on the river. We really enjoyed swinging in the hammock while relaxing with a good book. The afternoon sun almost made it too hot to sit on the front deck even though there are ceiling fans. An option is to sit in the two chairs placed right at the shore of the river. The hot tub was also very enjoyable even though it was mid-August.
The river isn’t very deep at this point. Probably could wade all the way across, but footing is difficult because of the rocky bottom. The water temp is a little chilly but not too bad. Fishing right in front may not be very promising so going above the rapids looked better if you can wade that far or cut through the woods and come out higher up.
A very relaxing place to unwind and watch the river go by. You will be a ways from anywhere so come prepared.
