Weekend in Brussels
For a weekend in Brussels me and my 3 friends decided to stay in Midi Business Lodge. At first, while booking, the name appears quite appealing, which in our case counted strong in chosing this hotel. However, after having booked I read the overall bad references, which made me prepared for the worse. But, at the end it was not that bad! The location is good, 10 minutes walk from the center. The neighbourhood is indeed not one of the best, but in our case (4 men) we did not encounter any problems or unsafe situations. However, a woman alone should pay attention in the area, especially at night. I did not get the impression there was a possibility for breakfast at this hotel, but in the surrounding area you can easily find a coffee and a croissant. Since the weather was hot, the rooms were quite uncomfortable since there was no aircon. And the showers are indeed very small, kind of like an airplane. The elevator was broken, and the stairs were in dark, which made it challanging to find your way. The housekeeping had blocked the stairs too with piles of linen.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel for young people, like a group of friends, who like to explore the city and go out. But definitely don't bring your wife here if you try to impress her! The price (aprox 25 euros / night / person) is quite okay. The recepcionist (f) was very friendly. My advice: renew the carpet in the rooms, it is old and dirty. Also put 2 complimentary bottles of water in the rooms! My rate: 7/10
