'Our room was very dated and run down, in desperate need of refurbishment. Shower leaked everywhere, plaster peeling and damp and mould all over. The £120 room only per night was far more than it’s worth. The bar is nice and the food is reasonably for a pub, it’s not a restaurant. Location is good and has parking which is rare for Howarth.'

'We were visiting the Holmfirth Vineyard and were able to access the parking at 10:00 even though check-in wasn't until 15:00. Staff were helpful and very friendly. The breakfast was excellent.'

It says on the booking description please contact property if check in is after 10pm, tried calling all day- got through at 6pm as their ‘phone lines were down’ to be told - no late check in! Refund not given! Was booked as a wedding present for bride n groom on their wedding night!'

'Nice and fresh room. Lovely staff. Extra milk/tea/coffee on corridor table and toothbrushes for those who require them. Dog bowls, treats and blankets if bringing your pooch. Food was lovely.'

'We had a really smooth and easy stay at the Black Lion Hotel. Everything was very organised and clean, bed was super comfy, bathroom and shower felt very new; it all seemed nicely refurbished. The service from the staff at the pub downstairs was extremely nice, especially Ed, who was very helpful and made us feel welcome. Would definitely come back here again if we come to Manchester again. Good vegan brekky too.'
