'We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Carleton of Oak Park. Lovely building with a beautiful lobby!. Our room was spacious and clean; the bed quite comfortable. Easy-to-use shower/tub with two sinks...and fluffy towels. Loved the Frank Lloyd Wright architecture photos in the hallways. Great location too. We took a nice early morning walk around the neighborhood. Love the old buildings, the Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired touches, the public art and the murals. Free parking. There are restaurants...
'We were pleasantly surprised by this property, and wished that our travel itinerary was such that we could have stayed more than just one night. Beth, the innkeeper, is personable and tends to every detail. The property is lovely and peaceful. Great dining options just a walk away, train to the city around the corner, and a lovely neighborhood to walk around and revel in the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright. Highly recommended inn. We shall reurn.'
'This property is an excellent value, and has great proximity to the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Field Museum and the Museum Concourse. It is also well situated for public transportation, and is in a very safe and walkable part of downtown. It is also very close to Buckingham Fountain and Millennium Park, as well as many historic buildings of great architectural interest. And we have always found the staff to be very friendly, kind, and efficient.'

"This hotel is truly beautiful — Art Deco style, full of character and soul. The lobby is stunning, and the corridors feel like they transport you to a different era, with elegant marble floors… It could easily be a museum. It’s located downtown, and many sights are within walking distance. The subway and bus stops are also nearby. Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, but the bathroom could use renovation.
However, it’s a large hotel, and that comes with some downsides. There was a long queue for both check-in and check-out, as not all service desks were staffed. We stayed for four nights, but had to downgrade our room because it still wasn’t ready — even at 5 PM. There was no refund, and as compensation we were offered a free breakfast, which turned out to be just for one day. Very disappointing.
Upon check-out, the bills I received showed additional charges of $352.26 for taxes and parking. However, my credit card was charged a total of €495.88 — significantly more than expected. I sent multiple messages via Expedia, but the hotel never responded. Since I was traveling through the U.S., I didn’t have the time to call and follow up properly. I sincerely hope the hotel will look into this and respond accordingly."
