  • The Shack is a recently remodled wash house from the original homestead. It sits next to the main house back in the woods with views of beautiful Auke Bay Harbor.
    The Shack is close to hiking, University of Southeast, and city bus lines.
    The original homestead was and is a school bus yard. Nights and weekends are very quiet, school days are busy (I have lived on site with my wife 2 kids, dog and chickens for the past 18 years), but only for a few hours a day. In the end most people are not here to stay indoors.

We had a very nice stay at the Shack. It had everything we needed and was close to Auke Bay and the ferry station.

Clean room and a lot of amazing amenities. They provided dishes/silverware, a fridge, hair dryer, and were very hospital. Amazing experience and safe neighborhood! I wouldn’t have stayed anywhere else in Juneau.

Very convenient location since the bus stops are right next door. We had no need for a car, since the bus functioned well to get to the glacier and downtown Juneau. There are some local dining options, with the Forbidden Peak Brewery being a short walk away. The Shack was quiet, and the adjacent property well manicured. We had a wonderful stay.

Great place to stay

The Shack was a wonderful place to stay, owners gave us lots of privacy and they have an Adorable dog to keep watch!

This location worked great for me. I loved looking out the side window at the forest. If there was noise it wasn’t noticeable to me. I needed a place to stay while my group was out fishing and it fit the bill perfectly. Thanks K for making everything so easy. If I’m back your way I will definitely stay again.

The challenge is that it’s located to the school bus storage lot, so lots of noise of buses backing up with that beep beep beep sound. Also, a blow dryer in the bathroom would have been a nice amenity.

The location was awesome! Loved getting to explore around the area. The shack was perfect for 2 people. Only wish they had darker curtains since the sun is out so early and late in the summer!

Fantastic Stay

Great little property. We rented a car for our stay but didn’t have to drive far. Everything we wanted to do was close by. We were blessed with awesome weather. Place was clean, Wi-Fi worked great, bed was comfy! Loved our stay in the Shack.

Everything was clean, the bed well appointed and quite comfortable. The scenery from the bed was to die for! The property is‘s slight quirky with a ton of character and we were 110% happy there was a friendly dog outside well trained, a friendly chicken. It was a pet and Kevin took excellent care of us. He provided coffee too! some coffee for the room. There was a lovely comfortable chair to sit in. Being modern TV with ability to use Roku and stream your own Netflix. While Kevin is a little ways outside of town proper, he is also right on one of the harbors so the ability to just stroll down to the water was amazing. He went above and beyond and helping us arrange some things, and proved to be quite a knowledgeable and charming asset. I had not planned Juno very well, but it worked out great!

Auke Bay getaway

We enjoyed our stay at the “shack” location was perfect for our whale watching and fishing trip out of Auke Bay. We were able to walk from our house. The host was very nice and responsive to questions. Would highly recommend staying here!
