The newly built home is raw and natural, with Zia Moroccan tile and high-pitched wood-slat ceilings, and it shares ten private acres with just one other home, with no shared spaces. Come back from the trail to two outdoor showers, swing in the hanging daybed or sink into the hammock bed, cool off in the seasonal cowboy tub (closed November through March), then end in the six-person hot tub by the fire. Two king suites.



The Space:

Shadow House is a newly built two-bedroom, two-bathroom home made with raw, natural materials, Zia Moroccan tile and high-pitched wood-slat ceilings. It shares a private 10-acre property with one other home, with no shared spaces, and you can walk directly into Joshua Tree National Park from the house. Outside are a built-in hot tub, a cowboy tub, a gas fire pit, a hanging daybed and two outdoor showers. Two king suites and a queen sofa bed suit couples and small groups of up to six. End the day in the private outdoor lounge off the primary.

-Outdoor Amenities-

The front deck has a gas fire pit, a large dining table facing west for sunsets, a gas BBQ and a hanging daybed. The side deck has a built-in six-person hot tub and a 6-foot cowboy tub, with Sunbrella pouf loungers and a sunken floating hammock bed; the cowboy tub is not an in-ground pool and is closed November through March. The back deck has a smaller dining area facing east for sunrise and an outdoor shower. Trails lead from the backyard into Joshua Tree National Park, and bocce ball is on hand.



-Living Area-

The living area has large sliding glass doors framing desert views in every direction, high-pitched ceilings and a deep sofa that unfolds into a queen sofa bed. There is a large smart TV and Sonos speakers, plus board games, books, yoga mats and yoga blocks.



-Kitchen and Dining-

The fully stocked kitchen has raw Zia zellige Moroccan tile, high-end appliances, cookware, utensils, olive oil and plenty of spices. The center island has bar seating for four. There is a drip coffee machine and French press, with coffee, sugar, creamer and a variety of tea provided. Outdoor dining is available on both the front and back decks.



-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-

Both bedrooms have a king bed, a private ensuite bathroom, a closet with a dresser and a desk. The bathrooms have rain walk-in showers and handmade Moroccan tile. The primary bedroom also has its own private outdoor lounge with a sectional and an outdoor shower. The living room sofa unfolds into a queen sofa bed.



-Surrounding Area-

Joshua Tree National Park is one of the world's great desert landscapes, with granite monoliths and boulder formations right outside the door. From Shadow House, the Copper Room at the historic airport, La Copine and the Giant Rock Meeting Room make good nights out.

The entire house and property are yours to enjoy! Please note that a few supply closets stay locked to store rental supplies.

The Neighborhood:

Shadow House is in a quiet part of south Joshua Tree where all homes are on acreage. The property is next to Joshua Tree National Park, which can be reached on foot or by private roads leading to a back entrance to the park. The last 0.7 miles to the home are dirt roads.

Getting Around:

A personal vehicle is necessary to get around in this area - rideshare apps are not guaranteed.



Please note that Shadow House is in a remote location, and the final stretch to the home is on dirt roads, so please take it slow. The dirt roads are maintained, and a four-wheel drive car is not necessary, but please note that the dirt road conditions vary and may have bumps and ruts, particularly after rainstorms.



Other Things to Note:

-Cowboy Tub-

The pool at Shadow House is a 6-foot cowboy tub, not an in-ground pool. The cowboy tub is drained and unavailable for guest use during the winter months (November through March) to prevent the filter from freezing and breaking.



-Shared Property-

Shadow House shares its 10-acre property with one other home. Both are designed for complete privacy, with no shared spaces.



-House-Specific Rules-

► Please avoid using the hot tub right after it has been serviced, while chemical levels are temporarily higher.



-Pool and Hot Tub Service-

The hot tub and cowboy tub are serviced Mondays and Thursdays, approximately between 9am and 4pm. Please note that these times are estimates and may change slightly due to our technician's busy schedule. He will not approach the house but will go directly through to the backyard.



-Pet Policy-

We welcome your dogs! There is a $100 per dog per stay fee, limit of 2 dogs maximum. Please note on your reservation how many dogs you are bringing. There is an unauthorized pet fee of $500. Please use the provided dog sheets before allowing your dogs on any furniture. Cats and other pets are not allowed.

The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it's important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.
