Luxe hotels in East Central Iowa

'The building was very clean and was nicely decorated/furnished. Staff were friendly. I don't wish to add a negative, but the advertised "heated pool" was actually "cold." It was a bummer, as my husband and I were celebrating our 23rd anniv. and haven't been swimming in ages. I mentioned it to the desk host; she said it's kept at a steady 85 degrees but that she would mention it to the maintenance department. The hotel is lovely overall. 'Refrigerator not working. In-room safe not working. I wanted to stay in the city center, thinking I could easily walk to some nice restaurants. The area is dying, with many stores and restaurants closed. I ended up ordering a salad at the hotel and ate in my room. I'd stay on the outskirts if I ever pass that way again. '

'Don't bother with the breakfast coupons. Didn't save me any money and was a hassle. Some days they would and some days they would not give me a free drink with breakfast. Just buy breakfast where you want, instead of paying for a coupon'
