Ranches in South Cornish Coast

'The gardens and grounds are the saving grace of this hotel. It is set in beautiful grounds with a small private beach a 10 minute walk away. But the hotel is let down by a severe lack of staff (either completely absent or over stretched), very poor breakfast (eggs which are unseasoned and unlike any scrambled eggs I’ve eaten), coffee which was so watery I wasn’t sure what I was drinking) and watered down juice and cheap bread. The bar was often shut and it took the hotel over an hour to open...

'Oud hotel, maar dan in positieve zin. Nog steeds comfortabel en gemoderniseerd op passende wijze. Goed bed, mooi uitzicht, fijn sanitair, prima roomservice. Aardige bediening. Fijne ligging net uit de drukte van het echte centrum.'

'We took a bad start as the property was without electricity when we arrived (a problem of the whole area) but after that was solved, everything in our stay was perfect; The host gives us friendly service of breakfast and the restaurant was FABULOUS, with nice wines and excellent food. I had lobster and enjoyed every bit of it. The garden is pleasant to sit in with a good beer, they have several good beers on tap. I would stay again.'

'We had a lovely spacious room with a comfortable bed, a bonus was the beautiful views of the river through the wide full height windows. Only downside was the lack of a cooked breakfast which is not available. There isn’t a table in the room so we had to sit on the single chair and blanket box to eat the cereals provided, not ideal when you want to fortify yourself for the SWCP walk. They also didn’t service the room which meant we had to wash the cereal bowls and cups in the bathroom sink...
