Cottages in Shuniah

'The staff here were excellent. Very friendly and accommodating. The property itself is very rundown. The pool tables and other games in the basement are stained and damaged to be mostly unuseable. Rooms vary significantly with the bathrooms in some having showers and vanities put together with painted plywood while others are much nicer. Don't book the cheaper rooms. The town itself is remote so don't expect to find a choice of places to eat. We did learn that the new management may be planning...

'Our family had a trip booked via train from Saskatoon to Toronto that was canceled because of the wildfires. We decided to hop in the car and make it a road trip instead. 'We stayed here last year and the cleanliness and overall vibe of this location has taken a step backwards. Not sure what happened but I hope it improves.'

'The overall cleanliness was adequate. The lobby washroom was poorly maintained. All the toilets were full of urine and feces. Whether this was an act of goofiness from hotel guests or others. When I walked in I was hit with the mal odour equivalent to a roadside outhouse. Hopefully this is not representative of the Marriott standards.'

'We were a little concerned when we arrived, as another guest's vehicle had been vandalised - windshield smashed and glass everywhere. There were no further incidents during our stay. Hotel staff were friendly & helpful, although we were not given the ticket for our free breakfast which delayed us eating. It was resolved in a timely manner though. An old, historic hotel and beautiful views over the water.'
