Your own private coastal house situated on an oversized lot with all the essentials, nestled conveniently next San Francisco, San Mateo, Half Moon Bay and next to one of the largest protected pieces of land in the area. Stunning filtered views of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Montara State Mountain, Montara Beach and the Pacifica Ocean. Please note: Scenery may change according to the seasons. Between the Montara Mountains and Montara State Beach there is over 10,000 acres of open space to roam around this secluded private beach house. Everything in Montara is within walking or biking distance. Wake up to the fresh ocean air and sight and sounds of the Pacific Ocean roaring in the background. Experience the awe-inspiring views of the sun rise over the majestic mountains filled with coastal cypress and rare grasslands. Watch the sunset in Silicon Valley's own hidden paradise. Our cleaners have expert-backed training on disinfecting, PPE, and current cleaning protocols. The property has received a cleaning certificate and I.D. which provides guests with verification that our properties are up to date on critical cleaning method guidelines from WHO, CDC, OSHA, and the FDA. #p1p211dh.

PETS: Pets are not allowed on the property without prior approval. Pets absolutely cannot be left unattended at the property. Pet fees and deposits may be required. Breaking this rule will result in immediate eviction.

Close to the beach, quiet, no issues checking in or out. Bed was super comfortable. Loved looking out at the beach and seeing the water. I could not figure out how to turn the lights on or if they’re were lights at all in the backyard on so taking dogs out at night was a little difficult. The gate at the end of the driveway doesn’t meet the pavement, so if you have smaller dogs will have to watch very closely that they don’t crawl under.

A cozy, sheltered home base with all the basics

My daughter and I stayed here over spring break. This place was a great value. It served as a nice home base at the end of each day of sightseeing up and down the coast. It's an older building, with mostly updated finishings. The kitchen has all the basics, older but mostly functional (sharp knives not withstanding).

Enjoyable retreat

The studio was a great get away when th a beautiful view, clean living arrangements and comfortable bed. The fenced yard was quite large and doesn’t appear in pictures. Great trip.

One Night Stay

While we stayed just one night, we found the accomodations just right for the two of us and our small doggie. The location ideal as it was close (2 blocks) to the ocean and several of our favorite restaurants. The rental is basically one large room with livingroom space, bed and kitchen with a separate bathroom. The TV and WiFi reception were excellant. Kitchen had all the basic pots, pans, microwave, coffee maker and utensils. Kitchen cabinets were well stocked with goodies. I found the bed a little soft for my liking but I slept well with the ocean air. Only negative is that there is only a tub shower and no grab bar. Being 79, I felt that posed a fall hazard, for me, so I decided on a towel bath for one night instead. Would book again for longer stay if this was corrected.

Perfect location

Great location a block from the State beach and a trailhead for hiking and biking with beautiful ocean views. The house is lovely, and quiet with a huge yard and it was great to be able to have my dog with me. Would love to come back again.

Nice clean condo but view not as nice as advertised.

We liked the gate so we felt safe. The neighborhood was quiet like our neighborhood. We slept with the windows open and there wasn't much noise from Highway One. Montara was close to everything. However, I noticed that the coffee filter was not emptied after the previous guest and there was a tear on the side of the bottom fitted sheet. That set should be tossed. Also the bottom of the shower was very slippery and since there is no fan or ventilation in the bathroom, the bottom of shower should be scrubbed with cleanser after each guest to prevent falls. During the summer I work at a local campground as part of the housekeeping staff and am always looking for hazards. I want to give a shout out to Matt who always responded back quickly. He amazed me with his courtesy and ability to help me with concerns and questions. Thanks Matt!

Wonderful cottage near the beach

We stayed at this dog-friendly 1 room cottage. The room was clean and well stocked, with an enclosed yard for our dog. The bathroom was big with plenty of towels and soap, shampoo, etc. The kitchen was huge and had 3 kinds of coffee-makers! The bed and couch were comfy. The only negatives were that the room was up a long, steep staircase, which would have been useful to know in advance. Our current pup handled the stairs, but our previous one would not have been able to. And the yard could use some landscaping.

Montara hillside cabi

This is a one room cabin on a hillside with spectacular views. Comfortable unit but no central heating at night. Once you enter the property there are 15 stairs up to the living area. Questionable situation for some seniors. Short walk to the beach which is Stunning. No crosswalk to cross Highway 1 to get to the beach and have to wait for break in traffic to cross. Not an issue if driving to beach. My booking was through VRBO. However, all communication were with a property management company who sent me inaccurate check information several times. No issues once you arrive.

Relaxing getaway

We had a wonderful stay, the place matched the description and we thoroughly enjoyed our trip. The internet was fast and reliable, and the TV offered plenty of streaming options for entertainment. The house is conveniently located within a short walking distance to the beach, which was fantastic. The room, situated above a garage, was cozy and comfortable. Though it did get a bit stuffy after being out for a while, opening the windows quickly cooled it off. The neighborhood felt close-knit and safe even though it was busy. While we couldn't hear the ocean as much as we had hoped, we could still see it from the house.

Relaxing getaway

We stayed here for a mini staycation and appreciated that it was walking distance to the beach, hiking trails, and even the marine reserve. The place is quaint and cozy, and has a fully stocked kitchen and pantry (pots/pans, oil, seasonings, etc). We also appreciated all the streaming options that didn't require us to log into our own accounts. The only hiccup we experienced were the ~5 flies flying around the house when we checked in. It was off putting, but someone came over with Raid after we told the host. I suspect the flies come in from the front door since the windows have screens. I'd recommend that the host keep a fly swatter in the house for future guests.
