Heel mooi historisch pand. Mooie locatie. Wel wat verlopen. Het eten in het restaurant viel tegen. Koffieapparaat op kamer werkte niet.

Mooie ligging, maak kan opknapbeurt gebruiken
Wij verbleven hier 3 nachten in een standaard kamer. Deze was op zich oké, echter lag erg ongunstig aan de parkeerplaats (waar in alle vroegte 's morgens het personeel gezellig kletsend aankwam) en met slechts een klein hoog raampje). Upgraden was helaas niet meer mogelijk, maar zou ik wel aanbevelen. Ontbijt was prima. We hebben er 1x gedineerd maar dit was niet heel bijzonder, er zijn leukere/betere restaurantjes in het stadje. Het geheel was oké maar een goede opknapbeurt zou er echt een pareltje van kunnen maken, gezien het authentieke gebouw en de geweldig ligging, mooi aan de rivier en 10 minuutjes leuke wandeling naar de kathedraal.

A characterful hotel in a great location. Our room was very spacious and in the old part of the hotel, full of old beams and quirky corners. Bed was large and comfortable. Lighting was a bit lacking and because we faced onto the street it was not suitable to have the blinds and curtains open. The restaurant had a great aspect facing onto the river and grounds. Breakfast was OK and fairly standard fayre, but plenty of choice and supply. Staff all very friendly and helpful Very convenient for accessing the city on foot, a pretty walk to the cathedral or the main road to more restaurants and shops. We enjoyed our stay and would happily come again.

This is a fantastic hotel. The location is as convenient as anywhere we have ever been. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was excellent and big. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay. Sitting out overlooking the river was a delightful experience and belied the fact that we were within a few hundred yards of the town. We could have been deep in beautiful countryside. We would and are recommending t to anyone

Less than Inspiring
Hotel is tired looking with basic facilities in the rooms. Service was offhand and less than welcoming. The dining room was cold. Breakfast was adequate and the coffee good. Dinner was less than inspiring; large choice on the menu but the food was bland and uninteresting. Major plus point - lovely location by the river.

Beautiful setting with view of river amd Cathedral. The room was spacious and clean however a little shabby and dated. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and could do with replacing. It had sunk on both sides where it was so worn. The room was also very noisy. You could hear every word spoken from the room above and every footstep which was not the best at 4am hearing someone use the bathroom. We were also a little annoyed haveing pre booked a table in the restaurant to have been placed in another room to eat which was like sitting in the local village hall. We lived the setting and it could have been so good. Shame.

This is our 4th visit to the Rose and Crown and as previous visits we were made to feel welcome. Staff all lovely and friendly and very helpful. Room was lovely and bed comfortable. We didn’t eat at the hotel this time.
