We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful home near Playa Carrillo. We spent 9 days with another family over spring break. The kids (ages 6 to12) loved the pool and spent every afternoon swimming. We all loved the yard and especially the trees surrounding the property - we saw parakeets, motmots, howler monkeys, iguanas, and lots of other birds.The set up was perfect for us. Our friends stayed in the main house with their 3 kids and we had our own separate space in the guest house with our 2. We shared the large kitchen/family room and enjoyed meals on the veranda. We either cooked or got take-out from the wonderful little soda up the street most nights. It was hot so the AC in each bedroom made for great sleeps.The beach itself is a gem. We went there every day and returned most nights for a sunset swim. We walked a couple times but with the heat and beach stuff (chairs, sand toys, and beach mats left for us to use at the unit) it was easier to drive the 2 minutes. Also nice to have a safe place to park on the property. We could tell that Jackie made security a priority and that felt good. I can't say enough good things. Jackie was a wonderful host. She was kind, helpful, and available. We appreciated having the cleaner there each day as well someone for security by the gate in the evenings. It all added up to a really great experience. So, thank you Jackie. Pura vida!

The house was great! The best part of this property is the host and staff! Top notch! They were there to greet us, there for anything in between and there to say goodbye when we left. Housekeeper and security guard were so nice and accommodating! Highly recommend this property!

We had the most amazing week staying at Jackie‘s home. The house was absolutely beautiful, the pool was amazing and loved being so close to the beach. Jackie was wonderful. Any questions or concerns we had she addressed promptly. Having the daily cleaning service and night watch on the property was a very appreciated bonus. Jackie was amazing with providing us recommendations on things to do, and restaurants. Her husband, captain Rick was the best guide for fishing sale fish. We had a really wonderful day with him and his first meet.We would love to stay at this property again.

Wonderful beach getaway

We were two families visiting from the US. The property worked perfect for us. We spent all of our time at the pool and veranda. We saw tons of wildlife by the pool. The restaurants, market, and beach were all walkable and delightful. This place is a private slice of paradise. Would definitely book again.

Best-ever VBRO experience

This was the perfect location for our family reunion. Both the main house and guest house were lovely, comfortable, spacious, and well appointed. The pool and backyard setting was simply paradise. The location was ideal. We enjoyed our walks to the local restaurants. Playa Carrillo was just a five minute drive and the beach was kid friendly. Jackie, our host was very knowledgeable about the area, and answered all of our questions promptly. She was super accommodating. Myrtha the housekeeper was most amazing.We look forward to returning here on our next visit to Puerto Carrillo.

Awesome place!

We absolutely loved our time here! The home is beautiful and clean and Jackie was wonderful to deal with from start to finish. We spent two weeks traveling through the Nicoya Peninsula and this was by far our favorite home! We booked a fishing trip with Jackie‘s husband Rick and it was a big highlight of our trip, the kids caught four sailfish! The pool was great, the yard was well taken care of and clean, and the entire property was very secure. We would love to return and would definitely recommend renting this property. You won’t be disappointed!

My family, group of 5 stayed at Jackie's lovely house just up the hill from the gorgeous beach of Carillo. The house was perfect, with lots of room and excellent facilities. The pool is magnificent. Communication with Jackie was first class, with an answer to our queries within minutes. A top quality stay.

Family Oasis

Clean and spacious property, with an amazing pool and patio. Plenty of room for everyone. Beautiful butterfly garden, and daily visits from the iguana. Host was very helpful in arranging transportation, scheduling activities. and responsive to questions. I would recommend having a car. Walking to the beach is not safe or easy. This location is primarily for beach activities. HIghly recommend zipline experience.

Fantastic stay!

Incredible home with an incredible host! Beautiful surroundings, fantastic pool and a short walk to some of the best restaurants in the area. We saw howler monkeys, giant iguanas, beautiful birds all from the backyard. Jackie saw to all our needs. As the title says, it was a fantastic stay!

Great location and home -- even better than the photos!

This home is wonderful, with lots of room to spread out and beautiful outdoor spaces that look out onto a forested valley. Veranda is perfect for spying on birds, monkeys, and iguanas through binoculars. The location worked well. The 10-minute walk to the beach allowed adults to head over individually before the rest drove over with chairs/umbrella/cooler. Easy walk to a few restaurants. We had a good dinner at El Colibri, but Soda la Plaza was our favorite (my best meal in Costa Rica!). The beach was beautiful and uncrowded at the end of November. A fringe of palm trees provided relief from the sun for the local families and tourists hanging out. The road is close to the beach, but we didn’t hear or see it from the sand/water. (Serious speed bumps keep traffic slow and quiet.) As the description indicates, the bedrooms have AC, but the common areas don’t. Despite the hot and humid weather, fans and open windows/doors kept the common areas comfortable. And we frequently hopped into the beautiful pool. Host was very responsive before and during our visit. The housekeeper was knowledgeable and helpful, even though she and I didn’t speak a common language. She had done an excellent job of prepping the house, which was very clean. We’re glad we opted to have her cook us breakfast one morning. It was delicious and the outdoor setting near the pool was lovely. We’d stay here again in a minute!

Beautiful home esp. the outdoor paradise

The house is large and beautiful, especially the outdoor paradise. Great pool, lots of room to sit, outdoor bar and patio table, butterflies in the garden, convenient restroom to pool area. We had a delicious breakfast prepared on-site - highly recommend. Owner and maid/cook were lovely to deal with. Maid only speaks Spanish but we mostly got by with our basic fluency. Note that only the bedrooms are air conditioned. During our stay it was uncomfortably hot in the living space, despite open windows and one floor fan. We never got a cross breeze. Also tightly seal all food items or store them all in the fridge or the tiny tenacious ants will find it! (Costa Rican ants are impressive!) Also be aware that the town is quite small - that may be your thing, but fyi.

Beautiful pool and outdoor space

We were supposed to stay 2 nights, but didn’t realize how far down the coast the property was. (That was my error in booking) The house itself was fine. Clean, spacious and very pretty. Didn’t realize the 3 bedrooms were in a room with a locked door, although it was a nice safety feature. Had to ask for more towels and for beach chairs but they were brought to us very quickly and we appreciated the timely response. Ice maker and water dispenser on fridge was not working. We loved our day in Samara, but ultimately decided to leave early to head to Langosta.

Beautiful home and property, amazing hosts!

This is a beautiful property and fit our family of 8 perfectly. Myrtha made us breakfast and coffee every morning while accommodating our vegan diet. Our kids loved the plantains she cooked, made with love as she described. Jackie was an incredible host, making our stay as easy as possible by arranging zip lining and a boat trip to see dolphins. She also found a local vegan bakery and picked up a cake for us to celebrate my daughters 25th birthday during our stay. She went above and beyond our expectations! Can't wait to come back and stay here or at another one of her properties.

Great location and house for two families

We stayed for a week. The owner Jacqueline was was very responsive and checked in frequently throughout our stay. The housecleaner Myrta, was exceptional and very helpful. The houses are close to Carillo Beach. We walked to Playa Carillo one day, although the road is a bit busy for walking with small children, so we drove most days. The restaurants in the area are excellent, and it was a relaxing stay. The biggest disappointment was that the sloth tour wasn’t running, but days at the the pool and beach more than made up for it, as well as a boat ride to watch dolphins, swim, snorkel, and trawl for fish (sadly did not catch anything, but still fun).

Great family vacation spot!

Our family of six (parents and 4 adult children) had a wonderful time staying here. The home is spacious, clean and comfortable. Plenty of room for everyone. The pool is beautiful and was enjoyed by all. Monkeys and iguanas were frequent visitors! Working with Jackie was a breeze. From the moment I booked the house she was available and easy to communicate with - answering messages and offering suggestions on local experiences, restaurants, stores, and drive times to/from airport and other towns. Jackie checked on us throughout the visit to make sure we had all we needed. She helped arrange a private dinner in the house with a lovely man named Walter who served fresh mahimahi (caught by his son), shrimp, guacamole, and pico de gallo. Mornings started with hot coffee and a delicious breakfast prepared by Myrtha, who also kept the house spotless. Restaurants and local grocery stores are in walking distance. The local beach was beautiful and not crowded. We took surfing lessons in Samara and enjoyed a zip line adventure one day. Thank you Jackie for sharing your home with us so we could experience your beautiful country! We all had a great first trip to Costa Rica and hope to return!

Wonderful week with the family!

Beautiful home and guest house with even more beautiful pool and grounds! We had a wonderful time ... thanks to Jackie who helped arrange some activities and reservations for us. Playa Carrillo is a gorgeous beach a short walk away. Myrtha makes excellent breakfasts and took good care of the house and us. All in all we had a terrific vacation!

Beautiful property. Very clean. Wonderful wildlife including birds and iguanas. We walked to the restaurant in about 5 minutes. Rooms were very comfortable.
