« My 8yr old son and I were in town for one night and needed a place to stay. Found the Blank Slate bus and jumped on it, AFTER reading all of the details. We could not have had more fun! Everything was tidy and clean. Having most of our camping supplies, we were over prepared. Once we got settled in for the night, it was all we needed. Waking up in a forest but only a few miles from civilization was a plus.Could not recommend more! It was lovely. »

« We only had a short stay but this place was the perfect weekend getaway with my wife and I. It had all the amenities of home but with the quiet seclusion we were looking for. Jim the owner was very accommodating and helpful with making our stay enjoyable. »

« This was a fantastic stay! The hosts were always responsive and check-in was easy. We stayed for an extended time due to our home needing repairs. The hosts worked with us to fill this long term request and were super accommodating! This place would be great for a bigger group too, with lots of space inside and out. It was perfect for our toddler because of the kids rooms with some toys and books, as well as the outdoor trampoline and swing set. The covered front porch was so peaceful for...

« The cottage is as described, comfortable and big. The train is a bit noisy but earplugs do the trick - shower hot, excellent pressure, and extraordinary stars on a clear night. Absolutely would stay again. Thank you, Shaena! »

« Staying at the Tranquil Retreat has been so much nicer than staying at a hotel. Plenty of space for 3 adults and we really appreciated the upgraded amenities, including the wonderfully comfortable beds. Great, well stocked kitchen, very easy to prepare a meal and nice to have a washer and dryer. This is our second stay here to visit our daughter, and we will certainly be back. »

« Each of us, ranging ages 10-50, enjoyed our family time at this home. It is so close to Virginia Tech. It’s tucked in a cute hilly well maintained neighborhood. The check-in process was very easy. The home felt brand new! It wa so clean and welcoming! The features and kid things were so great! We’d definitely stay here again! Thank you for this great place and chance to see our sophomore over family weekend! »

« This house was perfect! We came to visit our freshman Hokie for the first time and the location couldn’t have been better. You can tell the care that was put into the house and decor. We will definitely stay again on our next visit with our Hokie. Thank you! »

« Dog friendly, fenced yard. Nature lovers paradise. Darling property a stone’s throw from downtown Blacksburg and VT. No a/c meant windows open and the neighborhood noise was significant. Made it a bit hard to sleep. No TV. Parrots/fish on property / parrots are also loud. Owner warned us and offered to take them but I wasn’t clear about the situation, so I didn’t ask them to take them. My fault. 3 bedroom with interesting decor. »
