« An amazing stay. The dining experience was excellent and the renovations that are underway at this venue is out of this world. The bedrooms are very tired and but very desirable but clean and comfortable and price reflective - a dog friendly venue - dogs welcome in all spaces. Brilliant !!! the bedrooms are scheduled for renovation November 2025 - if these are going to be designed and completed to the standard of the social spaces then the grand villa hotel will be outstanding and I imagine one...

« In spite of some very lovely staff, this hotel is in an appalling state and desperately need of a facelift. Water damage on the walls, peeling paint, leaking toilets, a broken shower and windows that haven’t been cleaned in years. The owners need to spend a lot of money on this establishment that must have been spectacular in the past, as neither it or the staff deserve it being left in this state. »

« This hotel is really special. Great Victorian ambiance. Amazing view of the abbey and bay. Do not expect TV but wifi is good. Loved the all antique decor. »

« Just ten mins walk to town centre, few minute walk to north sea seaside, location is lovely. The room is clean, the bed is comfy, the shower has high water pressure which is good for after walking all day. The only one thing is kettle doesn't clean, some water left there when I check-in. »

« The property itself was perfect. A lovely little cabin with all needed for a quiet stay. The main issue for us on an admittedly short stay, were the distance from Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay. There were no grocery shops within a walkable distance or short drive. »
