We booked a Double Queen room for our family of four, but upon check-in were told it was not available and were given a King bed instead. The hotel said they were overbooked.
As a workaround, they initially offered a sofa/rollaway bed, but what was actually provided was a twin bed, which was not adequate for two children. At that point, we had no realistic alternative late at night.
What made the situation worse was the front desk staff behavior — the receptionist raised their voice at my wife, which was completely inappropriate and added unnecessary stress to an already frustrating situation.
To their credit, Expedia customer support did step in and provided partial compensation, but the experience at the property itself fell well below expectations for a Hilton-branded hotel.
Overbooking issues happen, but guests—especially families—should not bear the consequences, and staff interactions should always remain respectful. I hope management addresses both room allocation practices and front desk conduct going forward.
