We enjoyed our stay in March 2019. The studio is as it appears in the pictures and has everything you need, as well as access to an external gas barbecue grill. The studio faces mauka, that is, inland, yet is in walking distance of the beach. The mountains inland are ruggedly dramatic and rise almost straight up. The outdoor shower is a nice feature and the owners provide all the gear you may need for enjoying the many beaches of Oahu.
We met Angelo only once and he was very welcoming. He told us about a trail that goes up a pocket valley inland from Ka'a'wa and gave us directions to the trail.
Ka'a'wa is a small and quiet community that has one 7-11 and a barbecue restaurant. Just around the corner is Kahana bay, which has a very nice beach and surf that reminds us of Waikiki's. The surf there is popular with surfers using standup paddle boards equipped with hydrofoil wings. A river enters the bay and may be floated inland.
