'Great to see the renaissance of downtown Gastonia. The Esquire is a cornerstone of the surge. When we were looking for lodging in the area, we saw the Esquire and we were delighted to see the old bank and lawyers’ building converted. The staff was amazing. The restaurant sources from all locally owned farms and suppliers. The rabbit gnocchi was life-changing. I wish I could rate higher than all 5s. Thank you Esquire- we will be back soon!!!!!'

'well situated, good breakfast '

'Wifi only available to Marriot rewards members, which you can join for free, but is a pain to go through the process. The check-in staff didn't offer any information on when the free breakfast time was or welcome me. Didn't ask for my ID to confirm I was indeed the person on the reservation. When I got to my room on arrival, it was propped open.... Day 2, upon returning for the evening, my key card didn't work. I went to the same hotel clerk that had checked me in. He just asked me my room...

'Room was clean Staff was VERY friendly We didn’t use any amenities due to a quick trip but would stay again'

'Room has some smell. Curtain is partially torn. Floor is sticky.'

'The cabin was great for our stay. It was roomy and had anything you might need. Location was convenient to Athol where we were visiting friends. The cabin was decorated with cute country and antique decor. Yard was perfect for sitting outside and letting my dog out to potty. Secluded, wooded area on an apple farm. Great sunrises and reflective sunsets. Absolutely loved our stay here.'

'I’d give this a 0 stars for all categories. Front desk women rolled her eyes as i checked in and proceeded to take 20 min checking me in. Dirty in hallways. Insanely dirty in the rooms. Sheets were dirty and the door didn’t even close properly. Awful stay. I was excited to wake up the next morning just to get out of that place.'

'Clean room, friendly staff, everything at this property is top notch! Great overall hotel, 5 stars!'

'Friendly and helpful staff. Clean rooms and food was great.'

'Although there was some construction going on, it was clean. Also liked the breakfast'

'The entry door to our room was very dirty on the inside of the room. And the bathroom door was the same way. This property does not have an elevator. All rooms are entered from the outside. The continental breakfast was very good.'
