'The room was lovely and clean, bed was comfortable and the shower was amazing. The WiFi throughout was good enough to stream tv and the restaurant was great. We had dinner and breakfast and couldn’t fault either. If we are back in the area we would define stay again.'

'I so want this place to succeed! It’s in the most picturesque village, but needs some TLC after a string of management changes. New team comes in August. The bedrooms are clean, small, very comfortable and well designed. Current staff are lovely, but they’re leaving in 2 weeks.'

'VISITED THIS PROPERTY SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE YEARS BUT HAVE NEVER HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO STAY UNTIL NOW. WASNT DISSAPPOINTED EVERTHING FROM THE ROOM, BAR, FOOD INCLUDING BREAKFAST AND OF CORSE THE STAFF. THE ONLY NEGATIVES WERE LIMITED PARKING AND NO ROOM SAFE.'

'Village pub in the lovely village of Askham. Comfortable room, really good breakfast and brilliantly positioned to walk straight out into the fells around Ullswater.'

'Due to circumstances I had to leave. Everybody, including one of the guests, did everything they could to help me. These People are in my heart.'

'Loved the old 17th century beams in the rooms and the uneven floors. Property was very quiet - even with the Football World Cup semi-final on while we were there. Staff were all incredibly helpful and loved the breakfast. 100% recommend and would love to take my dog next time as they are very dog friendly (they get a sausage at breakfast!).'
