'Not worth what I paid for a night ($131) First room they gave me smelled terrible, musty and moldy. Couch and bedding smelled of mildew, maybe it was the carpet too but I wasn't daring enough to smell it. I at first thought it was because the ac was on and the filter was bad, so I turned it off and saw 1/2 inch of dead bugs in the vents! Opened the doors and windows and that brought fresh air from the bay but not enough. Asked for another room and they gave me one. This one was much fresher...

'Hotel is fine but most friendly staff was most friendly of our entire 2 week travel in US.'

'Clean, quiet, and convenient.'

'The property is a clean budget hotel. The rooms are large and the bathroom recently remodel. Location is right in the middle of town. Good value for chincoteague'

'Best room on the island'

'De kamers waren in orde. Koelkastje en eigenlijk alles wat hè nodig hebt. Het pand zelf ziet er beetje verwaarloosd uit. De reling van het balkon is hier en daar kapot, niet geheel veilig. Het ontbijt is naar onze Europese begrippen erg matig. De ijsblokjes machine deed het wel maar zag er vies uit. '

'What is unique about the property and management is that the Refuge truly cares about customer relationships. The staff is top-notch and super helpful and delightful, the room and amenties far exceed any experience we've had at other establishments on Chincoteague Island. We will always stay at the Refuge going forward. Enjoy as we have!!! Best value for customer service and accomodations on the Island.'

'It was very clean, and nice area'

'Wonderful cottage with a great deck to enjoy coffee on in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening. Saw ponies across the marsh every day and loved the bonus of the lighthouse so close by.'

'The building was beautiful and the room decor was charming. Great pillows! Perfect location to walk around and explore Onancock. I would strongly suggest the owners clean the showerhead as the water was spraying in every direction and clean the blinds on the windows as they were visibly quite dirty.'

'Room was clean,helpful staff,and breakfast.'
