The Westin was terrible. When I checked in, they placed me in a room on the 10th floor that reeked of animals, especially dogs โ and Iโm allergic to cats, so any trace of animal dander or hair is a big deal for me. The smell was overwhelming. I immediately brought my luggage back downstairs and explained the issue to the front desk. They sent security to escort me to check two other rooms (1211 and 1213). Room 1213 was slightly better, so I settled for it, but even then, there was still a strong animal odor.
To make the room livable, I ended up spending over $42 on DoorDash just to order air fresheners to help mask the smell. For the price I paid to stay there, thatโs completely unacceptable. The staff mentioned that guests with pets are usually placed on floors 3, 4, and 5 โ so why was I on floor 10 and then 12 dealing with the same issue?
On top of that, thereโs no free parking โ valet is $32, and self-parking is $22 per night. The hotel itself feels old and outdated, nothing like the sleek, refreshed Westin brand I expected. The carpets hold odor badly and really should be replaced with hardwood or vinyl flooring to prevent the smells from lingering.
I typically rely on hotel ratings when booking, but I honestly canโt understand how this property has the reviews it does. Based on my experience, this was closer to a 2-star motel than a premium Westin stay.
