Lovely, modern room in quiet setting. We booked room only but other facilities eg hot tubs were available to book. Comfortable bed and good shower. Coffee and tea making facilities in the room.

Hard to review this place. On the positive side, the owners/staff are nice. The room was clean. On the negative side, I have several points. The bathroom is tiny. I'm a small, thin person. I have no idea how a slightly larger person would turn around in it. There was no hot water in the tap, so face washing was cold. ( The shower had hot water). But the main negative was the noise. I understand that this is rooms above a pub. But I did not expect the VERY loud music. I stayed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. I can not imagine ever staying at a weekend again. The music was loud until 11:30 PM on the first two nights. So loud and thumping that it was impossible to even watch tv in the room, let alone attempt sleep. And even after the noise below stopped, you could hear music from other bars close by. On both Fri and Saturday, there were people drunk/barefoot/arguing/vomiting at the surrounding bus stops and doorways. I chose Darlington as a convenient stop over on my way north, but I would give the whole town a miss next time. Pass.

We had booked the Whole hog room in January 2026 for my birthday celebration but on arrival the room was changed,to the Oinkers room 5 and said we hadn’t booked the Whole hog room which was very disappointing. I then had a notification on my phone to say the room had been changed. The Sunday lunch was warm on arrival and we had to ask for steak knives to cut the beef sirloin, my didn’t even eat hers. We were given a complimentary drink as compensation. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. On closer inspection of the room quite a few small issues like bulbs missing and lights not working which should be rectified for the price you pay for this room. Parking was great, behind the hotel and the breakfast was good quality and hot.
