The Space:

Stargaze Escape isn't your typical desert house. Its personality is part 1950s roadside attraction, part midcentury modern retreat, with unexpected details around practically every corner. Outside, sculptural cacti, vintage neon, and an old turquoise car create a playful desert landscape. Inside, an enormous natural boulder rises through a custom dining table, coral-colored kitchen tiles brighten the room, and vintage artwork lends the home its distinctly nostalgic character.



Designed for up to four guests, the two-bedroom home offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy time together, from meals around the remarkable dining table to evenings exploring the garden's eccentric installations. And when it's time to slow down, the soaking tub overlooking a glowing, star-patterned courtyard offers a more intimate way to enjoy the desert after dark.

The grounds at Stargaze Escape feel like a small, wonderfully eccentric desert attraction. Gravel pathways wind through a garden of towering cacti, desert rocks, and colorful vintage details. A turquoise classic car sits near the entrance, while a retro Stargaze sign adds a splash of roadside nostalgia.



The real surprise is the floating vintage car bed, a playful outdoor spot made for lying back and watching the night sky. Nearby, a vintage telephone booth invites guests to pick up the receiver and leave a message for future visitors, adding their own little chapter to the property's story.



During the day, settle into the shaded patio, fire up the BBQ, or cool off in the cowboy tub beneath its retro sign. The cowboy tub is a seasonal outdoor soaking feature, not an in-ground swimming pool, and is unavailable from November through March.



After sunset, the outdoor spaces take on an entirely different character. Neon signs glow against the desert landscape, and the circular fire pit becomes a natural gathering place, with smooth boulders arranged around the flames. The private hot tub offers another place to unwind before turning in for the night.



The fully fenced yard ties these experiences together, giving guests plenty of room to wander, discover the property's quirky details, and enjoy the open desert sky.

Inside, Stargaze Escape trades traditional desert décor for a fun, colorful take on midcentury style. A curved pink sofa anchors the living room, accompanied by bold vintage artwork, a textured stone accent wall, and carefully chosen retro furnishings.



It's an inviting space to settle into after a day exploring Joshua Tree, whether you're watching a movie on the smart TV, catching up with friends, or enjoying a quiet afternoon indoors.



Natural light brightens the interiors, while plants and playful decorative touches give the home a collected, lived-in personality. Wi-Fi, a dedicated workspace, and mini-split heating and air conditioning provide the modern conveniences behind the vintage aesthetic.

The dining room might be the most memorable space inside the house. A substantial natural boulder rises through the center of a custom-built table, its polished metal surface curving around the stone. Vintage wooden chairs surround this unusual centerpiece, making even a simple breakfast feel like an occasion.



Just beyond, the kitchen brings another burst of retro color with its coral tile backsplash, light wood cabinetry, and stainless steel appliances. A large corner window above the sink frames the cactus garden outside, bringing the desert landscape into the room.



The kitchen includes a gas range, refrigerator, dishwasher, coffee maker, and the cookware and dining essentials needed for meals at home.

Stargaze Escape accommodates four guests in two bedrooms, each furnished with a king-size bed. The bedrooms offer a calmer counterpoint to the home's more theatrical gathering spaces, with crisp bedding, comfortable furnishings, and carefully selected vintage-inspired accents.



One bedroom features sliding glass doors opening toward the yard, along with framed vintage artwork and soft pink details. The other has its own distinct personality, with a desert painting, a mint-green dresser, and a bench at the foot of the bed.



The home's single bathroom is a particularly special part of the experience. Alongside a double vanity and walk-in shower, there's a deep soaking tub positioned beside a glass door overlooking a private courtyard.



After dark, the courtyard's illuminated star-patterned screen creates a beautiful backdrop for a bath. Leave the curtains open to enjoy the glowing design from the comfort of the tub, with the privacy of the enclosed outdoor space.
