Do you know the Croatian Tourist Board's slogan "The Mediterranean as it once was". Visit magnificent Vis island and you'll experience this yourself for 100%! This island used to be a prestigious marine base closed for the public, which is why the beautiful natural surroundings remained unspoiled. You'll find wonderful bays with sandy beaches and pebble beaches (Milna en Stončica), mountains, forests and caves here. This gem in the azure blue sea makes for a child-friendly destination and is a great place to relax whilst offering plenty of activities. Tour the island and be amazed by all the beauty you'll encounter. From Hum (at the tip of the island) you can enjoy a fine view across Komiža. Visit Tito's military tunnels and the English Fort or one of the many wineries on the way. The local wines, such as the Plavac, are great. Just like the local dishes actually ... pure food prepared with fresh, local ingredients. Active tourists can go hiking, cycling, sailing, water skiing, fishing, diving and snorkeling here. A boat tour also comes highly recommended. The boat will first take you to Modra Špilja (the Blue Cave) on Biševo island and then sail around Vis island making stops at various nice spots. Finally, the boat will take you to Zelena Špilja (the Green Cave) on Ravnik island and you'll end the day with a visit to Stončica beach, which is a lovely place for a swim. A perfect day! The apartment is in a quiet location, just outside the monumental town centre of the capital Vis. This house of traditional build has been completely renovated (parking at around 5 minutes distance). The communal terrace with garden furniture offers magnificent views of the sea and is a great place to enjoy a stunning sunset in the evenings. The pleasant promenade with restaurants, shops and terraces is within walking distance. Vis has an archaeological museum, Issa, which is worth a visit. The owner can organise the delivery of meals upon request. There is a good ferry connection between Split and Vis island. The crossing takes around 2.5 hours. There are various budget airlines that fly to Split.
