Our month long stay in Venice, as covid 19 restrictions were only recently lifted, was very lucky in two ways, the usual tourist hordes were mostly held at bay by travel restrictions and booking problems for many, and the Villa Frari was an excellent place to call home for a month. The functionality of the place was superior but was matched by its charm and comfort. I prefer open, uncluttered spaces, and really appreciate well layed-out and large interior spaces...the Villa Frari had spacious bedrooms, a large living area, and a large kitchen. The furnishings were well selected and worked very well with the spaces. There is a well outfitted kitchen that we used everyday and there was a well stocked cleaning closet.
The location was very nice as well, very close to the Campo dei Frari and the Scuola San Rocco, but away from the busiest tourist paths. The walk to San Marco was about 40 minutes, about the same by Vaporetto from San Stae (a 10 minute walk from the house).
The house was perfect for our needs (*our*, meaning, a couple of art history professors and a painter).
Simona was both incredibly attentive while also leaving us to ourselves, so a good balance of freedom and assistance...the communications were superb, trusting, and completely reliable. We would be happy to stay in the house again and although a month might seem like a long stay for most, we thought it was too short!
