'We stayed at the Kings Head last weekend and had a lovely time. The pub itself is gorgeous, decorated beautifully, it is cosy and inviting and located in a lovely spot by the stream.Although the actual car park itself was small this was no problem as we parked literally a couple of minutes away on the lane, perfect as it allowed the opportunity to see a tiny red squirrel busy in a nearby tree. 'Great stay for two night break on the coast to Coast trail. Staff was friendly and helpful. Friday nights are very loud with karaoke so be prepared! Food was good, but basic pub food. Breakfast had several choices and the avocado and poached egg was especially good. There's an awesome Indian restaurant called the mango tree just a few buildings down. 'We enjoyed that we could use all facilities for free. The hostel is right at the centre of Kirkby Stephen. We popped in and out several times. The landlady very friendly, helped us find transport to our next destination. '

'We travel to appleby castle as often as possibly we luv the company of sally and her staff. It will be a shame for the castle to be sold its so relaxing and the staff are down to earth which is what we like as a group. '
