'We had a wonderful time at this ryokan. We chose this inn specifically for its remote location and traditional atmosphere and were not disappointed. The hotel, outdoor onsen, and woodsy surroundings were all excellent. The building is old and reminded me of the railroad lodges of the western United States: creaky old doors and floors, metal keys, and rotary dial phones. 'ホテルの周辺は、散策にもってこいの環境でしたが、熊の出没情報もあり、散策を自重せざるを得なかったのが残念でした。ホテルから車で少し行けば、そば処や、地元土産を安く入手できる店などがあり便利な立地です。 スタッフは少人数でしたが、気持ちのよい応対でした。また、ロビーにおいしいコーヒーやお茶が常に用意されており、自由に飲めました。'

'Okada is a pretty big ryokan in Hirayu onsen area. Perfect for visiting Kamikochi in the summer. Rooms are of good size with a nice balcony/sitting area. The biggest plus of the ryokan is the beatiful onsen with multiple baths. Drawbacks were that our room didn’t have AC, only a fan, while it was very hot. The futons were pretty hard.'
