While the views from the back deck were beautiful and we enjoyed spending time together in the living room, we were disappointed overall given the cost of the stay. Our biggest concern was the access road. We expected a steep mountain road, but portions of this road appear to be eroding and slipping away. In our opinion, a heavy rain could make parts of the road impassable, which raises legitimate safety concerns. Cleanliness and maintenance were also lacking. We found mouse droppings in multiple areas, including the laundry room and under the kitchen sink. Several pots, pans, and knives needed to be washed before use, and bathroom exhaust vents were visibly dusty. The cookware cabinet was so overcrowded that items would fall out when opened. There were numerous maintenance issues throughout the cabin, including burned-out light bulbs, non-functioning remotes in the main-floor master bedroom, and an active water leak from the main-level bathroom into the lower-level bathroom trash can. The hot tub did not appear to be well maintained, so we chose not to use it. The beds squeaked, the fitted sheets would not stay on the mattresses, and the pillows were uncomfortable. The cabin has great views and potential, but the combination of safety concerns, cleanliness issues, and deferred maintenance overshadowed the positives. For the price we paid, we expected a much higher standard of upkeep and overall guest experience, so we spent as little time there as possible.
